The Boj: The Comeback Is On!
The exciting Valeri Bojinov returned to action in a City shirt last night for the first time since last August's 1-0 derby victory. And guess what? he scored..!
The Feelgood Factor engulfing Eastlands right now has been given a further shot in the arm with this news.
The Boj was given a second half 25 minute run out at Newcastle and netted the equaliser in a 1-1 draw. It's reported that he almost plundered a winner but headed wide.
And the good news doesn't stop there. Our future midfield general Michael Johnson came through a first half run out in the same game. New signing Felipe Caicedo also featured in a side including Isaksson, Jihai, Garrido, Mpenza and Geovanni. All of whom needed full games under their belts.
No doubt Sven and Hans will be thrilled with this news as the squad now take a well earned few days break before beginning preparations for our '12 games of European Destiny.'
For that Holy Grail to be achieved, we need as many options as possible. The pitches becoming easier to play on will also suit our squad's style.
Everton's vist, who will be confronting a very different City side to the one who surrendered so meekly at Goodison last month, can't come quick enough!

Troble is City 81 while we play a 451 system we have only room to play one striker at a time. If the Boj starts scoring, we may not need another striker.

I hope so, but Dr T needs to get his money back first City 81. I was going to be cheeky with JB and say we have a striker who can head? Then I remembered Bianchi scored against Spurs, Benjani was a good touch, as Andy Gray pointed out if he had not got a shoulder to it, Wes Brown would have cleared it. Still walking on air, I hope Everton does not pop my balloon just yet.

Caiceido, unknown quality as yet, I feel he was lost on Sunday, but it will take time, I think SGE intends to use him as Petrov cover on the left, having lost Miller to the baggies.

He had to buy another striker, It was going to take time to get The Boj fit enough and El Diablo coming back from injury. He had to have one that was Premiership ready so he went and got one. I think he will do OK. I love Darrius Vassell, he always gives you everything he has tracks back runs for miles. No he may not get you a load of goals, but he helps make plenty for others and being right footed, he didn't half give those two shots some hammer with his left peg. If only Didi's shot had gone in, but I am not complaining. 2 weeks before the Everton Match plenty of time for Johnson and The Boj to get fitter and get Closer to Europe.

The thing to come out of this Alphie, is that Central Midfield is Irelands best position and the answer to your question is no, Gelson would lose out to Johnson and Ireland to Elano, but would you swop Vassell for Ireland?

Alphie, no he wont, I think he will change will be Elano for Gelson and play Ireland in Central midfield. Leave Johnson on Bench and give him a 25 min run. I think Johnson returned too quickly from his operation and needs to build up to match fitness gradually.

I dont know where he would play El Diablo, a little too lightweight to run the line, not a playmaker like Elano, not a winger , I think we would have to change the system to play him. I think we all realise now that it takes time for a striker to settle down and bed in, but do we have time for that?

In a word, no, Buzz! 12 games, 12 cup finals. The best we can ask for is as many options as possible for Sven and we have that. I can see Castillo, Caceido, Sturridge, Etuhu and Bojinov joining Geovanni in the role of "impact players" in the coming weeks, shaking things up as required, depending upon how Benjani does. I also see a situation where we can more readily go 4-4-2 for some games. Confidence is sky high right now and the likes of Vassell will be buzzing. These two weeks off now are ideal to refocus the squad and improve fitness levels.
