'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will Sven Return To Benfica: Yes Or No?

Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed he is considering an offer to coach in Portugal however; the question on everyone's lips is...'Will Sven Return To Benfica'?

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has made it clear Sven's current role as Manchester City boss is almost over. If that is the case, surely the Swede has every right to consider his future options.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica

Eriksson, who has had two successful previous spells at the Portuguese giants, met with Benfica's president Luis Felipe Vieira and incoming director of football Rui Costa in Manchester on Wednesday (May 7) evening.

'I've had a meeting with the Benfica people,' Eriksson said. 'I'm considering the offer and it could be a step forward in my career. Let's see what happens.'

It is clear Sven is being 'courted', especially by Benfica. Surely he's on his way out of Manchester? Bleed'n Toxin!

I wonder if the good Doctor has realised what a complete cock-up he has made on the whole situation and will have second thoughts on his future strategy. There will probably be a few more Clubs on Sven's doorstep in the next few weeks which will put himself in a great bargaining position with Toxin.

Top rumour in The Grauniad is that Sven is holding out for Cheslki role if his mate Grant gets fired...

Anybody know anything about Joe Hart reportedly refusing a new contract offer?

Apparently JOe gets about £5000 a week and they ffered to double it, however Richards gets £50,000 and he thinks he should get a bigger pay rise, than the 10 grand on the table. Is he worth it? Are there better Goalies out there for less wages?

I don't like the way this is all going. A managerial black hole is looming and the players, led by their agents are slowly leaping into it. One article I read today reminded me that Sven has a massive network of football contacts and knows well the most powerful agents. What an asset that knowledge must be. Of course, if when the story is fully told, Sven comes out of this badly, whsoe to say his agents will warn top football people away from Thaksin's City? Bangkok Post this morning alledged that Thaksin likes to govern team selection. Eg. Sun playes after Sven recalls Logan...

I think Toxin has been given poor advice in this matter, but by all accounts Sven is not certain to take the Benfica job and is looking at the bridge, maybe Roman will offer Grant another seat upstairs and install Sven. Maybe it will all blow over, more to come on this after sunday I am sure. Its the tour that gets me, why go on tour if you are going to lose your job, it is not as though he needs the money.

The Grant Eriksson ticket seems a believable possibility. Meanwhile, according to Murdoch Sports, Scolari, when asked about City said..."Portugal offers me everything I need," Scolari told Portuguese public broadcaster RTP. "I have no agreement with that club."

Scolari on Sven: "I like him as a person and as coach. He is a gentleman," said Scolari of the former England head coach.

Sven on whether he is leaving or not: "It is a possibility, of course it is. It is not a secret to anyone in the world of football. But we will see, nothing is confirmed. Let's play the last game and have a little bit of patience. The fact is we will probably know next week."

if i was sven i would just leave now cos if it was me i wouldn take that ***** from anybody cos at the end of the day how i see is sven has done his job for what he said he would do for the year but still he is getting let go like seriously cop on with yourself sina
