'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will Sven Leave City - Fact Or Fiction?

Speculation hitting the newswires suggests Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson will learn his fate within the next few weeks. Fact or fiction?

For the past six to eight weeks, Blues fans have been bombarded with endless tales, gossip and speculation surrounding the future of our manager, however, how long we will have to endure the media's morbid fascination in relation to what can only be described as a reasonable successful 2007/08 campaign.

Fact

1 - Sven's side finished a credible ninth in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

2 - Manchester City qualified for next seasons UEFA Cup.

3 - Since taking charge, just a mere eight months ago, Sven has rejuvenated an ailing team.

Fiction

1 - Sven is about to take charge of the national Mexican team.

2 - Avrim Grant will replace Sven.

3 - Ronaldinho is on the verge of signing.

I leave the rest to you.

Your first line says it all..."Speculation hitting the newswires"...The hacks find it very difficult to report anything resembling the truth. I think all will be revealed about the middle of next week.

The media need dramatic headlines and appropriate stories to fill and sell their newspapers. Perhaps I should take a leaf out of their own book?

We can't rule out the arrival of Mr. Cook from Nike at the end of this month. Maybe his appointment will trigger some much needed announcements.
Johnny Baguette
JB I thought Cook was on the commercial side. I just wonder if the alleged signings that are taking place will go ahead even though we appear to have no manager and Sven as always never comments on signings until the lad is wearing the shirt. Is it a case of Dr Frank saying these are the players I've signed play them. I now think that in the managerial wars Chelsea will have first pick and we are way down the line. I would just love it, Love it, if they had to back down and say that Svens job was never on the line and the players we have signed are those that Sven pencilled in, but I have a feeling this will not be the case.

The link with the mexican national team must be the strangest yet!

If Sven goes then the City fans really should start asking questions of the ego manic Chairman.
