Shrewsbury Cash In On Hart

League Two side Shrewsbury Town were rubbing their hands with glee last night after Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart made his full England debut.

Two years ago, City paid 'The Shrews' £600,000 for the up and coming starlet, but depending on appearances, that fee could rise to a total of £1,500,000.

Now that Hart has fore filled one of the contractual stipulations, i.e. making his full England debut, the West Midlands side can now expect another £500,000 windfall.

Talking to www.shrewsburytown.co.uk the clubs Managing Director, Rob Bickerton said...

'The deal that was done when Joe went to Man City had an element which would be triggered when Joe got his full cap for England. That happened last night and I'm sure we will be sending Man City an invoice for that today.'

'Everyone associated with Shrewsbury Town Football Club and anyone who had an involvement in the development of Joe Hart should take great pride. He's a local lad; he went to a local school and went through our young player development, played over 50 games for Shrewsbury and then moved on.'

'While the club has earned some money from this I think the news is something of great pride for Joe Hart and for Shrewsbury as a whole.'

'Joe is 21 years of age and has now played for England and as David James has showing goalkeepers can have long and successful careers so Joe has the potential to be the England goalkeeper for a very long time.'

Hart made his debut appearance for England last night in the 3-0 away win against Trinidad & Tobago, after replacing David James at halftime. Although Hart looked comfortable between the sticks it has to be said, he didn't really have a lot to do.
