Zico Or Hughes?

Well before Sven-Goran Eriksson was sacked speculation surrounding his replacement was rife. Now the Swede has gone who will be his successor?

Zico

The Times had this to say about the Brazilian.

Zico, the legendary Brazil player, has emerged as the new favourite to replace Sven-Göran Eriksson...Thaksin Shinawatra, the City chairman, is understood to be preparing a formal approach to the 55-year-old, who is in dispute with Fenerbahçe...

Mark Hughes

Manchester City has made an approach for Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes, according to the Sunday Mail ...

And...

Blackburn Rovers has confirmed delegates have approached them from Manchester City to formally speak to their manager Mark Hughes OBE.

Has got to be Hughes, he wants to talk to us, which means he would take the job, if the terms are right and hopefully that would incude no interference in team matters, either transers in or out. If Dr.T wants some asian players on the books, thats fine as long as if they are in the team they are in on merit and the new manager wants them there. Zico great player, but does not have premier experience. If Hughes does take the post then his priority is to settle thebest players we have into staying. Find a CB of Dunney is determined to go.

My only reservation is that Hughes would be likely to walk out on us to take over at The Swamp. Apart from that it would be a good appointment, he already knows the first team players capabilities (a foreign coach probably would not) & he's the sort of manager that Dunny would probably like to play for. & Ched Evans is sure to get a chance!!

Any new manager knows they will play second fiddle to Frank. I just wonder if Hughes, or for that matter anyone else could cope with the constant intrusions?
Tudor
I would imagine a strong character like Hughes would have certain conditions along those lines in his contract.
Ghost of 76
I really hope so ....'76, otherwsie we're *****ed!!

A British appointment will be good for the Academy. The likes of Scolari wouldn't have a clue about the Premiership. Would need reassurances off Sparky for when Sir Bacon Chops goes. I'm kind of hoping now that Svengate was down to personalities because we can ill afford another sacking. Centre back? Daniel Van Buyten.

JB I think he was too nice, not ruthless enough for Dr.T. Do we start calling Hughesy 'Sparky' now. IF and its a big if he is successful at City and has the right financial backing I personally do not see him crossing to the swamp unless of course they offer him mega amount of dosh.
Buzz Lightyear
He did well at Wales and Blackburn, if he gets some of the players that are being mentioned he will be expected to break into the big four. Its a big ask to do, I am sure he will soon feel the pressure of the chairman if things are not going well.
