Hughes Joins City

Wednesday June 4 will go down in the history books when ex-Manchester United legend Mark Hughes became a Blue.

Sparky has signed a three-year deal and takes up the position of City manager with immediate effect.

'He's an outstanding manager who has achieved many things with Blackburn,' Thaksin told the Daily Mail.

'Mark was always the first choice of our new executive chairman, Garry Cook. Together they will make a great team. They will both prove to be excellent acquisitions, I'm sure.'

The 44-year-old Welshman will hold a press conference first thing Thursday (June 5) morning. Exact timings are yet to be confirmed.

Vital Manchester City would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mark and wish him all the success in the world.

Wouldn't a one year deal have been better? That's all he will last.

You better get down to the bookies then eastneydave, put your shirt on it, no put your house on it, if you are sure that is!!

A year? Lose 2 of the first ten games and he will be axed.

Such bad fibes boys, I don't think you have quite grasped it just yet. but in simple terms, It is how you play and make an effort, not whether you win or lose.

If things go pearshaped it maybe that Gary will have Cooked his goose !!!

Alphie, I understand what Frank is trying to achieve, Sven it appears was one dimensional and could only play 451, it works if we get players into the box, but really only at the Swamp did they have that desire. He wants to play attractive football yes, but he does not mind if we lose its we go down fighting to the end. Thats commitment, the rags score loads of goals because they keep going to the final whistle. Sparky will ignite us, (can't believe I just typed that).
Buzz Lightyear
I think the top four will be anxiously looking over their shoulders and won't like what they see...Onwards and upwards !!!
alphieblues
As Sparky say, he does not see any reason we cannot compete, IF we get the right players. He seemed very confident and no-one asked him about the Chelsea job?
Buzz Lightyear
I have a feeling that the leak about Sven came from Wardle or Mcintosh. Johnny Baguette pointed out some time back that these two seemed to be out in the cold. Rumours have it that Frank is employing another Chief Exec. and that Liverpool are head hunting McIntosh. In the news conference this am (5/6/08) Cook did state that Mc was the chief exec. but appears to have no role here.I expect things to move quickly now that Cook is installed and also appears very competent.

No longer the red great after turning light blue.

I look at this way, if Sparky wants to be the best, he does not want failure on his CV. He has been given the opportunity and the cash to achieve his ambition. When asked if this was a stepping stone to achieve his ambition, He said today that if he was successful here, then there are no more stepping stones.Everybody is talking about how the City fans will take to him, what will his fans across at the swamp think?
Buzz Lightyear
well i have to admit i am a little proud og that he will do well with us well if he is with us longer than a year but i think its a great signing for us but sven will still be missed
dunne deal
A good manager who should be left to get on with it, lets hope the Thai keeps out of his hair for all you City fans or he'll ruin your Club

What the most admire in Hughes is when he bought a player he choose the most appropriate for the team.
