'Oh, the Devil will find work for idle hands to do..' - the dalliance with Ronaldhino threatens to overshadow City's summer...

Ronaldhino, eh? Yep, one of the greatest footballers that has graced this planet, but not the greatest, and hardly worth Manchester City's hierarchy giving all Blues the impression that they are camped outside his house desperate for his signature like Sky Reporters staking out a traffic lights failure.

Earlier this year, France Football ('La Bible du Foot') revealed that Ronaldhino is currently the second best paid footballer in the world after England and America's David Beckham. Indeed, he's the seventh best paid sportsman in the world. Tiger Woods is number one, unsurprisingly. Is it any wonder that Barcelona are ready to get rid, especially if the allegations of his playboy lifestyle and frequent injuries that led to the Barca coach saying this week that he is no longer in his plans are correct?

There are two points all Blues should consider as Thaksin and his advisors continue the pursuit. Yes, he's a massive name in sport. Yes, he's got terrific talent. But. If he signs for Manchester City, it will be for money, no other motivation, otherwise he'd be here already, nevermind the why's and wherefore's over how his outrageous salary will be funded. City's board would get the stadium filling showpony they crave. More importantly, does anyone honestly believe that he will be able to hack a season in the Premier League based in the North of England? I sincerely doubt it, considering his current poor fitness levels. He'll be sat on and tackled to bits.

Today, Goofy has finally spoken after weeks of rumour and a public admission from City's Chief Executive Garry Cook that Barcelona had given City permission to contact the player:"I only know that my contract with Barcelona runs until 2010. It's time to be quiet. Until July 19 a lot of things can happen." What's he holding out for? AC Milan held their hands up!

The City leadership's relentless courtship of super agents is also threatening to destabilise Mark Hughes pre season planning. Now we hear that the proposed £18 Million transfer of CSKA Moscow's Brazilian hitman Jo is currently blocked by the Premier 'make rules up as we go along' League over alledged third party ownership of the player.

But put aside these two protracted saga's for now. The most important task 'Sparky' has this summer is to offload the rank and file chancers and wasters that currently swamp our relatively small squad. We all know who they are and a release list should have been circulated weeks ago. Not one of them has been shown the door yet and the fear many of us had that a change of manager could realise a second stay of Blue execution for some of them, could be realised.

Finally, mid season saw City linked with a host of top young international stars. It was understood that many of them had come to City's attention through Svennis's wide range of international contacts but moves could not be made until the summer.

Many of those lads are in absolutely scintillating form on our screens right now at Euro 2008.

If the earth costing move for Ronaldhino is realised, it would be an absolute travesty for the likes of Podolski, Arshavin and Huntelaar to be overlooked.

JB, Spot on, whilst not stating the obvious, he is already a rich bloke our goofy, but one thing for certain is, that he is waiting for a bigger club, I would love to sign the worlds best players and I am sure that Svennis tried aswell, but we have not yet earned that right to do that. We need to build a team and forcing players on Sparky, is not the way to start. Absolutely agree about the younger players, not seen Arshavin before yesterday and he and the russia number 18 Zarkoff (I know he's out of Flash Gordon, but it sounds like that)both impressed me. Not sure about Podolski, took a kick at Charlie when croatia beat them, bit hotheaded, but thats what we are missing. Berbatov attracting foreign attention and Arshavin and Pod plus bentley targets for spurs according to various papers. As for getting shut, I don't think it will be a carboot sale, as he has not had any chance to assess them and by all accounts all Svens backroom staff have been shown the door (according to the MUEN) although not through the offical website. So their is actually no-one left to tell Sparky anything about the playing staff. Rumour from a good source and I heard this some time ago and was confirmed recently that allegedly Wardle has been paying the wages from his own pocket for some time now.

I am pleased to say that Garry Cook, has denied publicly that the club intends to change its badge. I just hope the powers that be remember that this is a Manchester Club and proud of it.

Nice one, Buzz. I've been hearing similar on the wages front. Re Arshavin, he tore Rangers to shreds at Eastlands for Zenit and it was widely reported that City lodged a bid for him that night. Mackintosh?? As for the elephant on the badge rumour, nothing surprises me anymore!

Arshavin does look class whilst I don't fancy Podolski. I've said my piece about Goofy and feel that we are just embarressing ourselves. Wil Cook get the sack if he fails to capture him? I don't see Hughes making much progress in the European market, he hasn't got the clout like Sven and I'll be surprised if Bentley chooses Villa in front of City or and I can't see any of the top 4 being interested. Could it be Goofy on the left, Bentley on the right with Jo in the middle? I'm sure we'll play the 'old' team in the July UEFA game. Anyone any news on Richards progress?

Richards will be on holiday no doubt, Barn. Easy life etc. Hughes just will not have the Sven contacts. Thaksin and his mates obviousy think they can do the recruiting job via the super agents creaming massive bonuses. Sven was in the process of focusing on building a young team with potential and sure it didn't work out and we'll have to move on. At least we have a manager in place. But he just will not be able to advance the team without recruiting lads who can handle themselves. Podolski can, of cour Bojinov can. hat worries me re The Boj is Hughes won't know him from Adam and The Ants and he might do one which would be scandlous. Crappadi back at the club afte helping Parma get relegated. So here's my list of offloads which I will post everywhere in the hope that Hughes sees it: Mills x2 , Dickov, Samaras, Crappadi, Vassell, Mpenza, Isaksson, Sun, Garrido for starters. Almost a team of failure. I would jettison Ireland to Sunderland to make up the eleven, he just hasn't got it for me. I would keep Bianchi and Benjani and see how they do alongside Sturridge or The Boj. Tell you what though, if Jo comes in, then Benjani, Evans, Sturridge even Caicedo could all be under threat. Castillo on loan until Christmas. What a shedload of wages going out to a half crap squad. Sven did not have a lot to work with!

JB, Ireland has hit his peak here and wont get better, he likes to play in the centre and wont get that in preference of Elano. Agee with the exit door mob, apart from garrido, who is young and would use as squad fodder. Think Bianchi will do well with a partner, any partner and wingers. Would love to know who Sparky dose fancy and hope that he looking a lot farther than Blackburn.

Arse Shavin can play on both flanks, Hahm of Germany looks a good bet. There's always the Chelski ruined SWP! Did you see that our foul specialist Sun Jihai has been banned for 5 games after having a pop at the ref (as a sub, even for China) as they crashed out of the WC qualifiers...?

Areas of improvement: left back. Ball a good squad player but we need someone who can run up and down all game. In front of the back 4: Fernandes is a v.good squad player and one for the future. right winger. Ireland must go or become a squad player which he won't like. striker. of Sven's lot none have impressed yet. We must have a proven goalscorer(s) to match Thaksin's ambitions. Lots to ship out as per JB's list. Come on Hughes, let's get on with it!
