Micah Richards Wants Sparky To Strengthen Squad

Manchester City defender Micah Richards feels new manager Mark Hughes needs to strengthen the City squad if the Blues have any chance of succeeding.

With the Premier League not due to kick-off for another six weeks the 20-year-old right back was on top form when he told the Daily Mirror...

'With a new manager in place, hopefully we can get in some new players, in all positions, to strengthen the squad and give it a right good go this season.'

'Hopefully, we can get to the end of the campaign and say we've had a good season. The defence has been a big strength of ours and hopefully we can keep that going.'

If Frank gets his money out of the deep freeze, we may get some decent buys, otherwise, it is down to Sparky to get us some bargains.

I think Frank has enough on the side to go through with his global plan without having to dip into the deep freezer

The offload has started...Sun Jihai, Paul Dickov and Emile Mpenza have all been released, while Georgios Samaras and Andreas Isaksson will leave City if Celtic and PSV Eindhoven stump up £3m and £2m respectively.

Still very quiet though - even the local (not very well informed) newspaper is straw clutching on defensive midfielders today. Hoping for news soon!

Interesting article in Daily Mail today about us going cold on Ronaldinho due to his weight gain. Follow link via Newsnow and you'll get a photo of him. Hopefully Hughes will see the picture and convince all concerned to drop interest immediately!!!

Faroes in Europe then. We'll ***** 'em.

Not exactly mouth watering but am sure it will be more productive than some on the meaningless friendlies which we would have played!

It will be a Barnsley carnival!
