'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Welcome To Manchester, Jo!

Finally, City have got weaving with the cheque book and it's Joćo Alves de Assis Silva who has joined The Blues from CSKA Moscow...

The Faroe Islands is about to be visited by a potential Brazilian international star. Anyone who kept tabs on European football last season will be aware of Jo.

There's no doubt that the lad is big, strong and makes his presence felt. Boy, have City been missing that momentum. Let's hope this is it for the alledged 19 million quid outlay. Had Valeri Bojinov been fit and rampaging this year then Svennis's bacon could well have been saved. However, that's a bad episode in our history that we have to bury.

Now Mark Hughes has the opportunity to pair Bojinov or the likes of Danny Sturridge, Benjani or even Rolando Bianchi with the Brazilian. A mouthwatering prospect. Here's hoping the former rag striker can get the best out of the forwards he decides to keep.

Meanwhile, Vital MCFC understands that Geovanni, Mpenza, Dickov and Sun have have all been either released or not kept on and Isaksson has gone to PSV.

The seismic two weeks we expected is well under way.

well i hope he will do well hughes seems happy about the signing and not going to lie so am i does anybody know how much he cost cause he is still young and looks big and i would say talented
dunne deal
Rumour has it that he was £19 mill, DD, I was pleased to hear Sparky say that the side was unbalanced, but from the Press Conference it would appear that he does not have any personal dealings with the transfers, he obviously tells Garry Cook who he wants and then waits to see what happens.
Buzz Lightyear
Doesn't really matter what he cost as long as he does the business. No doubt this is another signing in which the payment of the fee will be spread over the length of his contract.
alphieblues
changing times at the City of Manchester Stadium!
merlin
Yes he definately looks a talent, but I think it's important to recognise he is still only 21 and we may need to give him some time to settle in. He'll certainly add something that was lacking for most of last season, and that is a physical presence at the business end of the pitch. May I be so bold as to suggest Benji as a partner - an experienced head willing to graft and help him? Not sure whether or not Hughes will tolerate Bianchi's theatrics, and the jury definately out on Bojinov - unlucky last season but all the noises post Eriksson suggest he may prefer to leave. Either way, it's all exciting stuff!!!!
oliverblue
If Bojinov goes, oliver that would be a travesty. Firstly, because he is guaranteed dynamite up front. We need a strong squad with options. Secondly, after all the medical care the club has paid for him, it would be worse than Andy "Andrew" Cole's *****take 10 times over. Like the Benjani angle, however. PL experience is essential and we also need a nucleus who have played together before to play in the Faroes.

Anybody else got the classic "Joe" by Inspiral Carpets knocking around in their head tonight?!
Johnny Baguette
Arshavin to Chelski. Well, I can't see Weasel Kenyon chasing RonaldMcDonaldhino then.
Johnny Baguette
Jo is the real deal, and has the quality for you to be able to challenge the so called big 4, a couple more signings of this quality and the sky is the limit.

JB, it was bugging me as to why with regard to the Offical site did not tell us who the ins and outs were at City and gave examples of various sources about several of our players. The following is their reply. ' thank you for your email and as someone from the official club website, I couldn't agree with you more. With regard to the players/staff ins and outs, every club has to provide the league with a list of players they are retaining for the coming season, and we have only had a draft of this to date. Mainly because there is a new manager in place and the first time he has had to look at his squad was yesterday and we had been led to believe that he might want to see/speak to those due to be released. During this time (before pre-season training) we on the website have pushed to be in informed as and when we can announce which players won't be kept on but this has drawn a blank thus far. With regard to Derek Fazackerley, we have been told for legal reasons we can't announce his situation until certain forms have been signed and terms agreed, again this has not been confirmed to us for website use. Unfortunately, sometimes being the official club site has restraints because we can't confirm things until we've had paperwork back and ratified, so if the MEN says x person has left or an unofficial site says x player has gone they are not accountable for those actions and can pass the story off. I only found out about Isaksson yesterday because of a story on the news wires via the PSV website - usually buying and selling clubs inform each other when they are making the announcements and co-ordinate - this didn't happen yesterday and PSV certainly let us down. With regard to Jihai, I didn't feel I could post any story with him joining another club yesterday without being able to say the club have released x,y and z player and as I've stated above, we haven't had the ok to announce released players. Finally, re the player called Trota, I'm not aware of us signing him. If he is a youth player then we would tend not to announce this anyway such as last season when one of Roberto Mancini's sons was at the Club. I hope this sheds more light on the situation for you and would expect that you keep this matter confidential along with the information contained within this email.
Buzz Lightyear
Fascinating stuff, Buzz. Any thoughts out there Gav?
Johnny Baguette
JB Signing off. I'm going into hiding for two weeks Blues. But by the time I get back, I am sure City will have taken part in a competitive match which will have culminated in a result and that Planet Earth will be Blue and there'll be nothing the rags can do. Viva Les Vacances!
Johnny Baguette
Jo & Benji. Or not?
storagematt
I hope yes Storagematt, Benji, big strong boy, gives 100% and will settle in this coming season and will benefit with a partner rather than struggle on his own up front.
Buzz Lightyear
Bon Voyage ! JB
alphieblues
Trotta will go straight into the U16/7 team. Even if he is very talented - the academy system is far more physical than any international youth would have experienced anywhere else. What I don't understand JB - is where the belief that Bojinov is the answer to all our striking problems. He has been injury prone throughout his career and we don't know if he is capable of adapting to a full season in the premiership.
Gavin Cooper
Gavin .. I don't know where you get the impression that Bojinov has been injury prone throughout his career. In the five years before joining us he made 120 First Team appearances and being aged 16-21 during this time does not amount to someone who is injury prone. He was desparately unlucky to pick up such an injury against the Rags and as he was not rushed back I believe he can be one of our biggest stars this coming season.
alphieblues
i will say he would be perfect with jo up front the two of them would hook up so well
dunne deal
hope this guy flops, cos he could proove massive for city next season
