'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ronaldinho Wants Premier League Football

Manchester City Chairman Garry Cook has revealed the club has made a £22m bid for Barcelona's Ronaldinho. 'He just wants to play in the Premier League,' said Cook.

Quotes courtesy of the Guardian.

'I can confirm that we have made a bid,' said Mr Cook. 'It has been a complicated process, not least because the Barcelona organisation has just gone through a fundamental change because of their elections, meaning that a new general manager is in place and we are talking to different people than before. But in the simplest terms, we have made an offer.'

'We are determined to do everything we can to make this happen. As for his intentions, they are somewhat muddled because of the interest from elsewhere, but what I can say is that he has shown a genuine interest in playing for Manchester City.'

'He is not playing games with us,'
continued Chairman Cook. 'He just wants to play football. And the really important thing is, does he want to play in the Premier League? If you were to ask him that, his answer would emphatically be YES.'

In our current poll, 'Should City continue to try and sign Ronaldinho?' 62% of City fans who voted want the club to purse the purchase of the Brazilian superstar.

Conclusion?

After months of negotiations, Ronaldinho is widely expected to sign a City contract, possibly within days.

Fat Phil at Chavski doesn't seem to want him,Barca can't wait to get shut of him,Milan aren't showing much eagerness to get him.Do you think that maybe he has a bit of baggage with him? He was by a mile the best player in the world two years ago,but if i was unfortunate enough to be a City fan,I would be worried.
SweetLeftFoot
I would rather have Ronaldo in my side than Goofy, but Goofy even as he is now will be the best player on citys' books, I am worried that there is no news about Franks trial. Sparkys not panicking and the rest of dads army here are not panicking, why mention it we're ok thanks not worried at all. you Ok sweetleftfoot, pressed the wrong button again, if I was you I would worry about that!
Buzz Lightyear
if I wanted to "push buttons" Buzz,it would not be that hard really would it? All I am saying is you could end up with the bargain of the season or a fat fella sat in the stands picking up his wages and doing nothing.
SweetLeftFoot
If he does sign for Milan then Gary will have lost a bit of face there. All other reports I read suggest the opposite so it to the reader it would appear that our chairman has made a bold move. Or a stupid one.
SkyBlueSuedeShoes
he is going to be like shevchenko class pal;yer b4 then he went to chelski and he does nothing what so ever he is there to rot h ewas one of my favourite players but look at him now and this is what is going to happen to him aswell he wont be able to hack it in the premier league
dunne deal
If he comes to City he will have to work harder than ever, If he goes to Milan, then he can hide in games either way, does he actually need the money, goofy the multimillionaire. I personally would be chasing a left back, a replacement for Hamann, and a right winger. If Goofy signs, its a bonus.
Buzz Lightyear
I agree! Our priorities should be strengthening elsewhere, mainly the positions outlined by Buzz. AC Milan are clearly a bigger draw for him, and it just smacks a bit of desperation the way we are hanging in there. Just can't see him coming!
oliverblue
BL is it realy a bonus in signing goofy cause i think its just a waste of money you can clearly tell that hughes has no say in this transfer as it was there for before he got to the club I agree about the left back definatly something we need to invest in

DD, We wont attract the players we really want unless we are successful in one of the cups or are a consistent side that gets into the top 6 on a regular basis. The other way to attract top footballers, is to get one and hope that others follow. Chelski just bought everyone on the market for OTT prices, they bought the league, but now they have players who want to go to chelski because they are a top club, thats where we want to be and instead of buying everyone in sight, Frank has picked a footballer he thinks will attract others, but the hardest part is getting him here. We still need to strengthen other areas, we have no cover for Petrov for example, but just how much money Sparky has to play with may well depend on the outcome of Goofy, but I don't believe he wants to come here, we are just not high profile enough, just yet.
Buzz Lightyear
Not sure he'd settle for UEFA Cup footy though!
merlin
merlin ...That's what he will have to settle for if he signs for AC Milan.
alphieblues
looks as if he wanted Serie A football more.

Our deal was pay when you play, Milan was pay even if you dont play, so on his average of only playing 20 games a season, the wages were the same offered by both clubs. Goofy you sly old dog you.
Buzz Lightyear
Wella t least we can go look for someone else to sign now any idears of someone else to sign now that the goofy deal is off
dunne deal
Not necessarily the same kind of player, but I'd like to see us make a move for Xabi Alonso. Liverpool seem keen to offload to make room for Barry. Not upset by last night's news at all - think it may have caused more unrest that it was worth if he came. Great to hear Boj is fired up for the new campaign!
