Shaun Wright-Phillips City Bound?

Manchester City youth Academy prodigy Shaun Wright-Phillips is on the verge of leaving Chelsea, but for whom?

FA Cup winners Portsmouth has reportedly shown an interest in signing the 26-year-old winger; however, reports coming out of Stamford Bridge suggest the £12m Pompey bid has been turned down.

City supporters have an affectionate streak for the pint-sized superstar after showing his creative capabilities during his 153 Manchester City appearances.

Now that Brazilian ace Ronaldinho has slapped City in the face and signed for AC Milan, Blues fans are eager to capture the delights only SWP can achieve.

Question?

Will those in charge of City owner Thaksin Shinawatra's financial purse allow Mark Hughes to make a bid for the one and only Shaun Wright-Phillips? Perhaps, but with City fans on side, who knows what the future will bring.

Vital MC wants every City fan to put his or hers name down on our very own 'Bring Shaun Wright-Phillips' back to Manchester City petition.

Just add your username here, then once enough names have been gathered we'll contact the club directly in an attempt to show our feelings.

If you can beat Portsmouth's £12m, then he's yours! It's no secret that he's played his best football at City, so I see no reason why he shouldn't be interested in a move back there.

I can't understand why Chelsea turned it down ~ he's the best player in the world at running straight into opposing defenders and then falling over after losing the ball. Chelsea were right royally ripped off in the first place so it's time to get some of the losses back.

When I think of how he used to rip defences apart & bang goals in from all angles & distances, I think his father has a lot to answer for as it's well known that he was the one behind persuading Shaun to move on. I would imagine that Shaun would jump at the chance to return to a club where he is still a hero. A hungry young player. with a lot to prove, I'd rather sign him than Ronny any day!

Fully understand City accepting the £21m but what a waste of a tremendous talent, rotting away at Chelsea. Get him back Hughesy!

bring swp home i say!

We need his creativity and coming back to Eastlands with the overwhelming support of the fans would boost his confidence no end. It would help put bums on seats. He's a proven premiership talent and he has a strong connection with the club. We need as many of those ex-academy guys out there as possible as inspiration to the other lads coming through and to give the fans something to take real pride in. Bring him back Mr Hughes, it would be a fantastic signing for us.

There's a right royal welcome waiting for SWP at Portsmouth - FA Cup Winners 2008, where his undoubted talents will be nurtured and encouraged by 'arry. He isn't going North - his dad told him to come to Pompey.

His Dad also told him to go to Chelsea, that shows how much he knows so why would he listen to him again? Be your own man & follow your heart Shaunny!

SWP for Prime Minister! :-)

Not sure about us making a £12m bid, but he would be made very welcome.
