City Linked With Every Tom, Dick & Harry

City Linked With Every Tom, Dick & Harry

With a short-term striker shortage looming over Manchester City, manager Mark Hughes is reportedly looking to buy every Tom, Dick & Harry.

Player shortage

Benjani is going to miss the start of the season after tearing his thigh in training, while £19m record signing Jo will be unavailable after being called up to Brazil's Olympic squad.

City have sold Georgios Samaras to Celtic and released both Emile Mpenza and Paul Dickov. That leaves Darius Vassell, plus Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge, who has been away with the England Under-19 squad at the European Championships.

The Italian pair, Bernardo Corradi and Rolando Bianchi, are currently available but both likely to leave before the season starts.

Possible Players

Hughes is thought to be bringing in...

Blackburn's £15m-rated Roque Santa Cruz

Real Zaragoza's Argentine Diego Milito worth an estimated £7m

Craig Bellamy from West Ham

Djibril Cisse from Marseille

Chelsea's highly rated Talal Ben Haim

Espanyol's Pablo Zabaleta worth £6m

That just leaves Tom, Dick & Harry who, at this time are unattached.

Please not Bellamy, not only is he injury prone, but there is something wrong with a player who cannot settle and clubs are very quick to offload him. Having said that Sparky had him and I just wonder if he would have him back. The MUEN in their article about Santa Cruz mentioned that The Boj, had another setback, anyone any ideas what that was? If you have a striker problem, wait a minute what striker problem? We have strikers and I always admired Bill Shankley for this he didn't sell a player and then get a replacement, he got the replacement first. My case all last season was that we played the wrong system(not all the time) and that was to accomodate 5 midfielders and although we were led to believe that Elano was a striker, I believe and I am sure a lot of us think that he is our playmaker. The question for Svennis was who to drop and play 442 and the answer was no-one because we lacked a quality winger and with a right winger we could play Johnson in the holding roll, and Elano central. After the initial success last season teams worked us out, stop Petrov and Elano and goals dried up, because it was those two who supplied the majority of the goals. So please not Bellamy.

It is not just City linked with every player with a pulse all fans seem to be linking every player with their own clubs.
