City Close In On Tal Ben Haim

Manchester City is in the verge of signing Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim.

The Daily Mail are reporting that both clubs have agreed a £4m transfer fee and all that stands in the way is for the 26-year-old to agree personal terms.

Fact File

Ben Haim was born in Israel and has 39 international caps. The 6'1' centre back began his professional career playing for one of Israel's top sides Maccabi Tel Aviv. After a two week trial with Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2004 then manager Sam Allardyce bought the promising defender for a mere £150,000.

In June 2007, Chelsea signed the Israeli on a Bosman transfer after offering him a four-year deal.

Ben Haim is expected to put pen-to-paper within days.

He was pretty dreadful for Chelsea but looked solid at Bolton. Which Ben Haim will show up for Man City?

Cant see him dislodging the Richards-Dunne partnership, unless Hughes has ideas of putting maybe Richards in the holding midfield role. Hopefully will be a long season, so we'll need cover in all positions anyway.
