Hamburg SV 1-0 Manchester City

City's first pre-season game away in Germany proved to be non-eventful, except for a small matter of Hamburg's new recruit Jonathan Pitroipa scoring the only goal of the game.

During the first 45 minutes City were always second best against the talented Bundesliga side, with Pitroipa a constant threat against a resilient City defence.

Nevertheless, Mark Hughes' side came out stronger in the second half but failed to capitalise in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees.

Hamburg are a decent side. 1-0 is not too bad a score against them. Still not at full sharpness so there's positives that can be taken from it.

It beats the Faore Islands.

Well, ok. It was 30c+ out there but the deficiencies and can't be arsedness that we witnessed towards the end of last season clearly remain. Sort it Bluesy.

I can only hope the sluggish performance was due to the heat and the perennial pre-season lack of equilibrium. They must sort their ***** out once the real thing starts...
