City Defence Strengthened

MCFC have just confirmed the signing of Tal Ben Haim from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee and subject to a work permit...

This is certainly a step in the right direction for Mark 'Bluesy' Hughes as he begins to bolster his squad in preparation of what could be a long season including our longed for European mission.

The official site confirmed:

'The 26-year-old former Bolton man has penned a four-year contract and becomes Mark Hughes second signing as City Manager.'

Welcome to City, Tal!

What are your thoughts on this signing? Should City now move for a midfield general and another striker? Check out the Vital MCFC Forums and give us your views...

I Like the comment by him that he preferred to come to us despite having a had a better offer from another Club.

What great player to sit on bench.
city 81
alphieblues, There no offer for him, He moved to Chelsea free !!
city 81
I'm not really sure he has strengthened anything.
k_chelski
Well, let's be honest, K. He was hardly ever going to play regularly at Chelsea. I just hope his morale and performance hasn't been ruined SWP style.

JB, This is the first deal for Hughes, but Jo was start talk before Hughes come, I surprise when we contracting with this failed player and On the other hand we have great Academy !!!!
city 81
I Forgot to say .. Congratulations Chelsea .
city 81
Nice one city 81! Right now, I'm still worried over squad numbers. We're still thin on the ground and for me, too lightweight in midfield.

JB, I am worried more than ever. :)

I think its a great signing for us he is a player that can play nearly anywhere he was brilliant for bolton but chelski do wat they always do dont give players a chance well done hughesy
dunne deal
and trust me look what hughes did for blackburn he is a great manager and always has a trick or 2 up his sleeve he knows what he is doing
dunne deal
DD, If we dont have money or We not have this great Academy or we play in Division3>> At that time we can say is a great signing !
city 81
Great signing in my opinion. Will stop the back four thinking their places are guaranteed, and can play in several positions. Nice one Sparky!!

Ben Haim wasn't brilliant for Bolton, just solid, which is something he wasn't at Chelsea. he never looked comfortable at Chelsea for some reason and was frequently caught out of position or burned by a faster player. He isn't a terrible defender by any means but certainly he isn't great either. Best of luck to him. Who knows, he may rediscover his form with you.

According to the excellent soccerbase he made a paltry 10 League appearances for Chelsea, including 3 as a sub. He turned out for Chelsea 17 times all season. Hardly enough time to rate him. Yet another player with Stamford Bridge splinters in his arse.

Come on! Tell us! How much did you pay, we're inquisitive!
merlin
and the comments about us not giving players a chance have given me a good laugh :-)

3 mill is the undisclosed figure knocking around!

City 81 - you are a very cynical man. I don't get the impression you even want us to win owt. You sound like you'd be more happy if we were ***** so you could carry on your whinging. If we won the league, would you change?
