Sparky Wants Thierry Henry

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is considering a bid for unsettled Barcelona striker Thierry Henry.

According to the Guardian, Manchester City has drawn up a shortlist of some of the biggest stars in world football, headed by Thierry Henry. However, after the long drawn out Ronaldinho fiasco, would any City fan realistically believe the club could pull off such a coup?

The most worrying sentence in the Grauniad article is "The manager, Mark Hughes, it has become apparent, will not have the ultimate say on which players join, a position he appears to have accepted." - So that confirms that Super Agents are running City's scouting network with Cook. Not a clue.

Ah here we go again now were going to be signinh henry is this a lie or is this something that might happen

It's the usual call City fans bluff spin bollox from Clueless Cook. They are asking if he would be interested in joining in January if he has a crap start of the season. Pathetic.
Johnny Baguette
No Hughes picks the players, not Cook! Mark said he's in charge of the football side and he tells it like it is, this is just paper rubbish again! Ain't it reported that Henry is going to United?

I can assure you thriller that Thaksin has super agents working with Cook to bring in players. Jo was organised by one of them.
Johnny Baguette
But have any of us seen JO actually play b4 if so be honest now what does he look like does he look like a goal scorer
dunne deal
I believe your wrong mate I’m sorry but Jo was being organised before we signed Hughes and when we had Sven remember? Also when we was getting rid of Sven, when we was looking of getting a new manager, Cook and agents was planning the move for Jo! Now Hughes is the manager he makes the signings sample as that. I think the club, the manager, the fans should be taken into consideration when signing players but the manager has final decision. After all fans are the people living here, supporting the club through thick & thin! THIS IS OUR CITY!!!

Have to agree with JB, thriller! Jo, Ronaldinho, Corluka - not sure Hughes was totally aware of what was going on! I sense the VK signing was entirely Hughes instruction, so the signs for the future may be positive. As for Henry - not a cat in hell's chance!!

Well...(takes a deep breath) I hope I am wrong! To date, I am absolutely sceptical of how Cook operates and what his mandate is. Hughes was clearly alarmed at what happened over Corluka and Ireland without his knowlegde. Hughes is the only person at City who has tried to draw a line under what took place, referring to "mistakes." There was nothing from Cook, Aldridge or Tyrell. I'm very concerned about the clubs direction, but I know we have to stick together and get behind the lads while the political mess at the top of the club continues.

Who knows about henry? Cook/Hughes seem to conduct their business very well - not much publicity until they are nearing completion. I heard a rumour earlier that Henry had been seen at a north west hospital for a medical. May be city or utd, or bollox. Either way, I wouldnt be surpised if they got him. Cook will be a good asset for citys commecial side and hence their ability to attract top players, but at the end of the day Hughes will always pick the team that will do the job. All in all I think the management team Frank has brought in will do well for us at both levels
