City Require Strikers - Please Apply Within

With the current striker crisis at Manchester City, boss Mark Hughes has just 10 days remaining in the transfer window to bring in a decent centre forward.

With Bojinov, Benjani and Darius Vassell are all ruled out with injuries and new Brazilian signing Jo unavailable until next week, which rabbit will Sparky pull out of the hat this time?

'We have three main strikers out injured for a significant period so we are obviously short, added Hughes.

'We need to address the situation we now find ourselves in.'

Rumours circulating suggest City are in the hunt for Spanish Primera Liga side Real Zaragoza in-form hitman Diego Milito, however I must stress this is just mere speculation at this time.

Then of course there was the Guardian article in which they mentioned former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry might be on City's radar.

If all above fails, the club can always resort to placing an advert in the Manchester Evening News - 'City Require Strikers - Please Apply Within'.

Given the choice, who would you like City to sign before the transfer deadline?

Saw Jo today in match today against Belgium. The good news was that his second goal was OK. The bad news is that he is not worth £20m. If he turns out to be a failure, who gets the blame for signing him. Who actually decided that this was the player for us.As far as I understand it, SGE knew he was getting the push and the process started before Hughes got the job.

Silvestre injured and wont play against Fulham, really was a close call that one.

Jo will need time, let's not kid ourselves. Time will tell how successful he is. As stated before, I just hope we dont panic buy journeymen (Corradi, etc) for the sake of it. Evans and Sturridge will help us through this next few months if Elano and Petrov step up to the mark with them.

Saviola.

Have to bring someone in but not easy as we need young talent IMO. If we miss out before the transfer window closes we will need a steely defence to keep us in mid-table.

A bit early to say that Jo isn't worth the money, let's hope he silences the critics with a couple of goals next Thursday.

We are back at square one with fianances which is nothing new for us, we have always been a family club and it concerned me that a relative unknow like Jo commanded a high transfer fee, but whose choice was he? I am not saying that he is a bad player, SWP isn't, but I wouldn't pay £21m for him because he is not worth that much, but Chelsea could afford to pay that amount. We on the other hand have discovered that the money train is stuck in Thailand and is unlikely to be reunited. We are now looking for a left back and a striker and another. The money we spent on Jo could have been spent more wisely. You are right Alphie, it is too early to give an honest assessment of JO but at £20m it better be on the money, because if he is a duffer no-one is going to buy him off you for that amount.
