Kompany Satisfied With City Debut

Manchester City £6million new signing Vincent Kompany was more then satisfied with his performance following City's 3-0 demolition of West Ham on Sunday.

The ex Hamburg star only managed one training season with his new team mates prior to his Eastlands debut , nevertheless his move from midfield, then into defence following Micah Richards head injury didn't even phase the 22-year-old.

"The manager knew he could count on me to play in different positions — that is why he signed me," he said after the game.

"I was pleased with how it went because I tried to play an intelligent game. I did not know most of the team's names. I had to learn them while I was on the pitch. But it didn't take me long to settle."

"It would be great if every game was as comfortable as this one. I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun. But I know there will be harder games to come."

"As long as we win the matches we should win — and maybe surprise the Big Four a few times — I think we can look forward to a very good season."

Cant wait to see what he's like when he does get to know them. Looks like he's played there for City for years! Dietmar Hamann's brains and technical ability with Gelson pace and energy. £6m? Theft! Well done Sparks!

Definitely a footballer as Cloughie would have said.

And ONLY 22 what a star !!! With all the plaudits being given out after a superb show by all the players I thing one player who has been overlooked in all the Plaudits is Michael Ball who I thought gave one of his best performances in a City shirt. He looked very fit and up for it and could yet solve our LB problem.

Agree Alphie, he was fighting for his place, with all the talk about wanting a LB, he combines with Petrov very well, but for my liking he lingers too far up field, He should have a word with Willie Donachie, dont think he ventured too far over the halfway line. Kompany just slotted in, it was like finding the lost piece of a jigsaw.
Buzz Lightyear
I though he had a great game great signing by hughesy he is young and powerful he has a lot of potential in him still
dunne deal
Buzz I don't think he needs a word with Willie Donachie more like a quiet word in Rigsbys ear to do a bit more defending.
alphieblues
He looks an accomplished player - another good piece of transfer work by Hughes!
