SWP Comes Home

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea on a 4 year contract...

SWP told mcfc.co.uk: 'Obviously I'm delighted to come back to City and I just can't wait to get started again.'

Manager Mark Hughes added of his exciting signing: 'I've always admired him and he's certainly been a target of mine since I came to the football club.

'To actually secure the deal and bring Shaun back home is a fantastic coup for us and I'm sure the supporters will be just as excited as we are to have him back at Manchester City.'

What a booster going into today's UEFA clash. Vital MC will keep you informed of the rest of this weeks mayhem as it unravels!

mcfcthriller, your thoughts??

its a good signing don't get me wrong, i would have loved to see him at Goodison because we a crying out for a player with the pace he has. But i'm not too disappointed we didn't get him, especially with the rumoured wages, 80k a week a few years ago would be saved for a real world class player, wages are getting ridiculous, and if SWP is worth a rumoured 80k a week then its not going to be good for football. He's a good player but not 80k a week worth. Good luck anyway.

Not often that we can say City do good business. Shouldn't think the 12 million loss'll bother the oligarch though!
Johnny Baguette
Not at all,we're very generous:-)And its a good piece of business for everyone.I wish him all the best.always liked him a lot, always gave his best but unfortunately wasn't quite good enough for us.I'm sure he'll do well for you lot.

You didn't play him enough, he was always the fallguy. How can you expect to get the best out of a player if you only give himn a game now and again. As from crossing, he never could cross a ball, but he can hit one and create lots of chances for others to score.I hope they haven't done a deal where he cannot play against Cheslea, because SWP has something to prove.

shaunee's a good player and will improve with consistent match experience. i don't know if i'd say chelsea wasted him b/c i think the options were better, so it's a sale that makes sense. good luck to him either way.

He should never have gone to Chelski in the first place. Had he stayed put he would have been an England regular. Possibly he should sack his agent for giving the bad advice that has cost him several caps.
