City's Next UEFA Destination: AC Omonia of Cyprus

The UEFA Cup First Round draw in Monaco today has destined City to face AC Omonia of beautiful Cyprus....

AC Omonia are based in the capital, Nicosia. Omonia have won 19 league championships, 12 Cypriot Cups and 14 Super Cups. Omonia has also claimed a record five domestic doubles - in 1972, 1974, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

The Cyprus Football Association declared them as the team of the 20th century, remaining the only team to have won the Cypriot Cup 4 times in a row: during the years between 1980 and 1984.

City must surely be favourites to progress into the UEFA Cup Group stage, but Mark Hughes and his squad will be on their guard after the lessons learnt in Denmark.

First round, 1st leg 18th September 2008
Eastlands: City v AC Omonia

First round, 2nd leg 2nd October 2008
Neo GSP Stadium: AC Omonia v City

Bugger - Mrs Tudor and I go on holiday to Cyprus, flying out on the 19 Sept and come back on the 26th, which means I can't fit in the away leg. Bugger, bugger, bugger.....
Tudor
That's unbelievable!! I see they have a 22, 000 seater. Should be a cracking night. Thank God we avoided drawing the Young Boys from Switzerland for rag p*sstake avoidance purposes. My brief research revaled that they also play at the *****dorf Stadium. Something's not right there!
Johnny Baguette
That's W*nkdorf Stadium.

Wonder which TV station is taking it up, I hope it is not Setanta, I've just cancelled that subscription that cost me an arm and a leg.
Buzz Lightyear
Bugger is not a swear word - now B*****s is a swear word and very naughty! - I expect Five or ITV will have the TV rights for the game.
Tudor
They do Tudor! We're certainly clocking up the air miles! Dont know much about them but should be a great night!

At least the travelling supporters get a nice short break in Cyprus.
