Johnson To Sign On At City

It's all steadily coming together for Mark Hughes and his management team.

Hughes has announced that Michael Johnson will sign a new contract with MCFC within the next 24 hours.

Johnson and his advisers recently rejected an offer from the club, but his poor form in pre season and in the opening games of the campaign will have greatly reduced his bargaining position.

'Michael will put pen-to-paper over the next 24 hours,' Hughes told the Sunday rag Mirror.

'We are delighted because he has a fantastic future and his decision to commit his future to this club is another example of the progress we are now making.'

Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton have all had Johnson on their radar for some time and this is yet another example of Hughes' powers of persuasion having already sorted out Vedran Corluka and Stephen Ireland and brought home Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Here's to Johnson going back to basics and digging deep for the form we know he is capable of from now on.

He will have to put pen to paper pretty quick as with all the new signings he will be lucky to get a game !!!

I still say Johnson is a candidate for dropping right now. Maybe the new signings will make him raise his game.
