'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sparky's Statement Of Intent

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes gave the Premier League and the football community as a whole something I bet he thought he would never be able to do - Sparky's Statement Of Intent.

Robinho

After pulling off one of the most remarkable transfer coups in Premier League history when they smashed the British record by landing Brazil forward Robinho from Real Madrid for £32.5million, Hughes told thousands of bleary-eyed City supporters staying up past many of their bedtimes last night...

'I have said that in order to compete with the best teams in the Premier League, we have to be in the market for players of this calibre, and Robinho is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world. This is a real statement of intent as to the ambitions of Manchester City.'

It's just unbelievable. When you consider Chelsea sanctioned the sale of thousands of Robinho replica kits on line this week, it gives you an idea of the seismic shift in spending power the Arabs have made possible.

if they add 'nearly signed for us' underneath they may get some money back with a bit of discount.

Indeed. Times are changing at Middle Eastlands!!

Just curious what you guys think of this article. £120m for Ronaldo off Man United in January :P http://www.arabianbusiness.com/529737-abu-dhabi-planning-240mn-ronaldo-swoop

No he will wont go to City but he will go for not sporting reasons to Real Madrid.
Buzz Lightyear
The management would fear for their lives if they sold Lady Boy to us.
Buzz Lightyear
lol. I myself doubt that he would come to Middle Eastlands, and I think it'd get right up the noses of true blues and rags alike if it went through. I can't stand the idiot, and him wearing blue wouldn't change that any time soon. I was more curious to your reactions at the proposal than whether you think it'll happen though. Still, thanks for the replies.

Congrats to all you Citeh fans from the Chels. Gutted you snatched Rob from under our noses, but that's the way the cookie crumbles! We know what a rollercoaster ride you're about to go on. And it'll be nice, when your honeymoon's over, not to be the most despised team in England anymore. I'd love it if you lot bought the Winker!

I think Robinho will prove to be the bargain of the season when you think of the £70-80m being asked for the likes of Ladyboy, Kaka, Messi etc.

Now Ronaldinho & All who said (No) before to the Manchester City, Now They will be cry .

Congratulations guys, well done with Robinho and the new owners, but what are you going to do with all the "old" supporters who suddenly remember they supported City since day one? Many of whom will have old Chesea jerseys they bought once "for a joke",and never threw out?Thaks for Corluka, pity we didn't go in for Kompany as well, the guys class.

Glad to see our new owners are giving Rednose a taste of his own mind games threatening to come in for Ladyboy in January. The future is bright ...The future is BLUE !!!
alphieblues
Well I wish you guys well, hope you depose Liverpool and Arsenal from the 3rd spot play-off. However I'd not expect your manager to be there too long after the deal is done, first item on the agenda will be a new man at the top whatever he's been told so far. Results will be expected straight away which will not be easy given the best players are already tied up, so expect turbulence as well as signings. Personally though I'd love a rich owner to swoop into Spurs on his Flying Horse, jealous as hell and hope it works for you this time. Glad we still got Corluka in time also.
bringbackhoddle
Still I wish they wouldn't go public with these statements,Its embarassing to say the least, Is that called tapping up on a big scale.Hope we get our own TV station on Sky.

Hughes is the best coach in the world.
city 81
City 81 time will tell on that one, One player will not change this team and if are to be in with a chance of a top 6 finish we need to be in the top 6 in January. That is still a tall order, there are many fine teams in the Premier and we will have to play extremely well uptil then.
Buzz Lightyear
Yes, whilst we are all rightly on a crest of a wave, I think we are all in danger of getting carried away. Forget January for now, and let's concentrate on delivering a top six finish (as Buzz rightly says as being realistic). Let's not forget we face a very angry Chelsea side next, who will be desperate to drop us down a peg or two. We are not top four material YET, but the future is looking very blue indeed. As for the Ronaldo story, I think we should go through with the deal, as we could do with resting SWP in the Carling Cup fixtures ;)
oliverblue
welcome to the "seriously richer than you" club - you'll find it does have its downside with all the jealousy from those less fortunate!

MCFC moving out of the shadows..... Here's to those York and Wycombe 10th anniversaries... Stoke 2 Man City 5: 3rd May 1998 Relegated to Third Division. Macc Town 0 Man City 1: 8th September 1998.

How many of the present squad will have a regular place in the line-up come February ???
alphieblues
Richards,Robinho & JO. A bit worried about the Brazilians though, Elano does not relish the cold and I cannot imagine the others doing to aswell.
