I Have Joined The Biggest Team In Manchester

I have joined the biggest team in Manchester, says City new signing, Robinho.

Talking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the £32.5million signing from Real Madrid said...

'I have joined the biggest team in Manchester. I am very happy to be here. I know about Mark Hughes. He was a forward, one of the best in the English league. He has played for many big clubs. He knows success.'

I wonder what the rest of the footballing community, including Manchester United fans think about Robinho's statement?

Oh dear, what a waste of money, no player is worth £30m. Another lazy Brazilian playing for money, lets see how he enjoys Hull and Bolton etc... in the freezing english winter. Is the Sheik gonna hang around for the next twenty years to see if he can repeatedly buy success, cause thats how long it will take to become the biggest team in Manchester. And biggest team in the world ? ok...yeah of matter how much money he may have, walk before you can run. Madrid tried the 'Galacticos' approach and won very little, too many ego's, agents and dressing room upset...good luck matey

You can't buy 40 years of glory and history tudor. Arabs are control freaks, Hughes will have no say in tactics or management. Bad move, you were doing ok as it was, Chelsea for all their money will never emulate the Madrids, Milans, Liverpools and Barcelonas, because they are a little club in real terms and always will be. Maybe in thirty years they could make it, maybe.

Hey lillywhites is it because he is such a crap player that Chelski tried for more than a month to sign him.

Wow, you've signed possibly the dumbest footballer in history! City get rich so now considered bigger than united? Get real. Are QPR the second biggest team then? Suppose he had to say something to get the fans on side, his performances will be unlikely to live up to the extremely high expectations now.

Interesting comments Evertonmike! I'm sure we'll see how dumb he is over the next four years. You guys must be happy - you signed Carlo Nash on transfer deadline day!

If he genuinely believes city are a bigger club than united, he's been very poorly advised. Is that supposed to be an insult by the way? That we signed Nash? I'm pleased we signed a back up GK yes, or if Howard got injured we'd be *****ed. I'm more pleased we signed Felliani like, great replacement for Carsley. If in 4 years City achieve what United have in the last 2 decades, then perhaps you'll be right. Until then... Small club with money comes to mind.

The comment was made tongue-in-cheek I have no doubt, but it will have been made clear to him that we have ambitions of being as big as them. Making such a signing as Robinho backs that theory up. As for us being a small club - that my friend, is something we have never been, and never will be. Still, it's nice to see you over on our forum. It shows that clubs like Everton are genuinely worried by us. Good luck for the season!

I don't think it's jealousy at all.. I think it's the fact your new owner single handily just ruined Football. Whatever happened to steady building and the yearn for greatness? The minute some ******** Arabs come in and pour money into a team from another country they never even heard of, just to make it the biggest in the world, means the passion and hardwork in this GAME, has been lost. Thank you Citeh, for killing my passion. I thought you were a great English club - now you're just some Arabs toy. Congrats and I hope your proud of yourselves. I rather be a 6th placed team with great history, owners, and English players than Man Citeh.

Before you become 'The Biggest Club in the World' You have to have a History. And that my dear City Fans is something you don't have. You can't buy it, it comes with a number of factors, And money isn't it. As much as Chelski will hate the fact. Proof you don't have a History Worldwide. No one in Brazil had heard of you. You might like to wait a few years before you become obnoxious. Most fans in this Country like you lot. But reading some of the comments on this site in the past week. It isn't going to take long for you lot to be despised more than Man U and Chelski...Remember that when the Oil money is gone

I don't know what prompted this from you Prentonpompey, The City fans are not responsible for the purchase of our club, has one of ours fans come onto the Pompey site and told you to do one. I am curious about the history you refer to.

Find it mildly amusing we should be getting a lecture about footballing history from a Portsmouth fan, and a Villa fan having a pop at City fans for the events of Monday. Both of these two teams are also foreign owners "toys", so what makes them any different to us? Nothing, apart from the wealth of the owners. Los_angeles_villain - would your passion have been killed if your team was being linked with Ronaldo, Torres, et al? Somehow I doubt it. Brace yourself for plenty more of this City fans!!!!

OB, I know how they feel, but I dont want to buy a whole team I want Mark Hughes to sign players to compliment those that are here and win it that way. In doing it this way we maintain the the name Manchester City. The only thing is the owners want success now but it takes time to build a team and at the same time maintain its dignity.

(Richards, Hart, Evans, Sturridge, Onouha) All their hard work they put in, not many young British players coming through the ranks at clubs any more.... and this Abu Dhabi is just gonna blow all that and buy a load of world superstars that probably wont even come and even if they do they wont gel properly

Whoelheartedly agree Buzz! Whatever team we end up with, I'd like to think our Academy graduates Richards and Johnson, and also others such as Joe Hart will be integral parts (wouldn't that be a smack in the face for the detractors?). Would also expect Hughes to put across the benefits of adding to the squad gradually - three new signings in January to supplement the squad would be ideal.
