At Least 18 New City Players In January

Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, head of the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) wants to bring in no fewer than 18 new Manchester City players in January.

Blues boss, Mark Hughes has apparently been told he can offer £80m each for AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Barcelona's Argentinean attacking midfielder, Lionel Messi.

Also on the list are Liverpool's Spanish ace Fernando Torres - expected to cost £70m - and fellow compatriot Cesc Fabregas. The Arsenal midfielder would set City back in the region of £60m.

Dr Al Fahim also reiterated one of his main objectives, and that is to publicise the United Arab Emirates, especially Abu Dhabi.

'Our main objective is to publicise Abu Dhabi as a capital for sports, education and culture in the Middle East, in addition to giving the UAE people and residents the opportunity to train and interact with players from Manchester,' he told the worlds media.

Youuve won the lottery lads, enjoy it. Just remember where you came from and be humble about it unlike Chelsea who were always a massive club apparentley.

I hope this statement sees some distance from the owners. Our current young squad have been working hard and are really coming together as a team.

All I can say is this will be another nail in the coffin of the English Game. Truthfully I would like the Prem to float off and separate from the rest of the league ladder now. Enjoy it you Blues and as Hudds Yiddo says above. Please remember your roots and what the club was.... yes, you are now truely MASSIVE.

I'd be quite happy to see the squad build up slowly over several seasons instead of being shoved together over one January. Let's get ourselves a good left-back and maybe let Schmeichel go (since he doesn't seem to want to stay as second GK) to be replaced by a more experienced face lest Joe Hart be injured or need a break, for this season. Then we can worry about which positions are underperforming comparatively in a year's time, and bring in some higher-calibre faces when we have a year's reputation with Abu Dhabi behind us to go on.

Us City fans have been thru so much in the past three decades, greyhound, that no matter what happens from this day forward, we'll never forget where we have come from. It's truly satisfying though that we have the Rags rattled as hell!

LOL.U know there is always a distance between dreaming and reality.Money is always the opprtunity of success not the gurantee of success.AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Barcelona's Argentinean attacking midfielder, Lionel Messi.Fernando Torres - expected to cost £70m - and fellow compatriot Cesc Fabregas. The Arsenal midfielder would set City back in the region of £60m.LOL HONESTLY DO U THINK THEY WILL JOIN U ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF MONEY???LOL JUST DREAM ON.Neither their clubs need money nor the players will play in UEFA cup.I think u all with ur owner r running too much after capturing ROBINHO.He onle came bcoz he was in trouble & he has no other option.None of the players u mentioned desire their wish to leave & as i said no one will fancy playing in UEFA CUP.Better get some tropphies & make some Base before dreaming.U still r 3-4 yeras away for being an attractive project. And how ur owner think only he can bid??He actually doesn;t know anything. The fact CHELSEA didn't p[ay 4 million doesn't mean they can't compete with u.Its laughable. If u bid 150 they can bid 200 real is also there. No matter how rich ur owner is transfers r in millions figure which obviously make Chelsea,Real even Manchester ,Inter ,Bayern all compitable.ENJOYYYYYYYYY THE NEW TAGS: SUGAR DADDY,SUGAR MONEY,DESTROIER OF FOOTBALL,DUBAI CLUB BLA BLA BLA

i think you should set your sights a bit lower ... think about it .. will Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres, Kaka and Cesc Fabregas want to play UEFA Cup football? It's not as if any of the clubs those players play for are in any need of money. GET REAL

My question can the signing of Robinho realy make such a huge difference to the team we have a great team abd adding robinho is fantastic but we need more than that cause the team we have now is the team to last til january so lets hope we will be in the top 5 by then

DD - makes sense! If we are after these "superstars" we may need to justify ourselves with a top four finish. Whether that happens this season or not, we'll have to wait and see. The Robinho signing has certainly a message sent out to the world that we mean business though!

We defiantly mean business and i am sure Chelski dont no what to do now that they have competition with a team that can spend more money. When we signed Robinho my dad was cursing kenyons name yes he is a chelski fan poor man i always tell him. But i cant wait for the game against them and to top it off ill be in Lanzarote to watch ohhhh yessss

18 players and at any cost? A fine plan if the players you want wish to sign with you. Money helps, of course, especially when you're a club no top player would ever consider otherwise. And do you think Man Utd or Arsenal will sell to Man City anymore than Madrid will sell to Chelsea? Robinho made himself by severing ties with Madrid and the new Man City emperor saw an opportunity. Good luck getting all these top players. You will need it.

Wow reading the comments here are interesting. Personally, I don't think it's likely at all that players like Messi, Kaka, Torres and Ronaldo are going to be interested in playing in the same team. These are superstars - no matter what they say in the public light, they care a lot about being considered the best player in their club and respective leagues. If they all came to one club - they couldn't even guarantee a starting place! And I'm sure that 18 is exaggerated. Surely the new owner wouldn't be crazy enough to destroy a well established academy like that. That said - do enjoy it because it's a very nice feeling when your club starts spending the money and bringing in the good players. I still remember how exciting it was when Chelsea started - especially since we were gearing up to having to sell before Roman came. Way I see it - any improvements you make to your team strengthens our league and I welcome the competition - lets face it, having the same 4 teams has gotten a little boring!

Thanks The_Legend_Of_Zola. It's good to hear the SENSIBLE views from supporters of other clubs, and there is a lot of reason in what you say. We have a decent squad as it is now, and hopefully in January we'll be able to add to that. Who with? We'll have to see. One thing's for sure though - we're in for an interesting season!

Not a problem mate. I don't think you really need 11 superstars to have a brilliant team anyway. Lets face it, you've already got some decent foundations - Hart and Richards, for example, are very good young players who I'm sure would be able to be great players at any level - even the CL. And your academy is very good also. I think that perhaps 4 or 5 signings would be all that you'd really want to bring in at the moment to really raise the level for you.

i think that this will be a lot harder than the doc suggests. until you can guarantee champions league football, many of these players will refrain from making the switch. when that's a given- which it should be in a year or two, then more and more players will flock to your team. but mark hughes is the right man to steward the ship, and he'll do well to build up the sqaud in the interm. i feel that kompany, jo, swp, robinho, and a few other of your purchases this summer were brilliant.

To be fair forza - there were some good signings the year before also - Petrov, Elano, Corluka (probably wishing he'd stayed right about now) etc all good players.
