Pablo Zabaleta Wants Time To Adapt

Argentina international and Manchester City summer signing, Pablo Zabaleta prepares to make his debut against Chelsea on Saturday.

Zabaleta swapped Spanish side Espanyol for City just prior to the transfer deadline and, having been on international duty since he put pen-to-paper on a five-year-deal, the 5'9' defender has only been able to see small snippets of the City set-up.



Talking about his move, the 23-year-old defender said...

I've come here to challenge for the league and for European competitions.

However, the right-sided defender, who moved to Europe three years ago after joining Espanyol from San Lorenzo, is hoping people will give him time to find his feet in Manchester.

'What nobody can forget is that I will need some time to adapt to everything, as it's such a big change.'

'I was only (in Manchester) for a few hours and hardly left the hotel. I did take a small trip around, as well as visiting the stadium.'

'The stadium is very nice with very good acoustics. The pitch is incredible; it is perfect for playing on. I can't wait to start playing there.'


The following video shows Pablo Zabaleta scoring while playing in his native land. Oh, and the Argentinean commentator says the word goal non-stop for nearly 50 seconds. Very annoying!

Unfortunately for him, having sold Corluka, he's pretty much going to have to hit the ground running, especially as his debut is against Chelski. The City fans will certainly get behind him though - we always do! The fact that Nedum Onuoha wants the No.2 jersey will ensure he is kept on his toes. Good luck Pablo, and welcome to the Blue Revolution!!!

Much as I saw Charlie as our most technically gifted player, he was short on pace. I think Zabaleata will bring life to that position.

Zabaleta & Kompany could prove to be two of our best signings for a long long time.

I saw Zabaleta play when he came on for Argentina although it was only for a few minutes, he showed in those few moments that he could shoot and cross a ball, he is faster than Charlie. Communications with Zabaleta may be difficult at first, not too sure if anyone apart from Robbi speaks Spanish.
