The Right Result Verdict - Wigan v Man City

WIGAN ATHLETIC v MANCHESTER CITY - Richard done

Sunday 28 September 2008

Controversy reigned at the JJB Stadium as Wigan Athletic prevailed against Manchester City via a penalty gained with an overly threatrical fall by Wilson Palacios. However, evidence suggested that there was some contact so the Right Result spotlight is turned to the other end of the pitch. With City 1-2 behind just before the break, centre-back Richard Dunne was tripped in the area by Emile Heskey. Strangely, despite the absence of any other obvious offence, referee Steve Bennett awarded a free-kick to the Latics when it should have been a City penalty.

The Right Result is a 2-2 draw.

One to chew over me thinks!
The Fear
Yes & we at Pompey should have won 7-6 last week but we didn't!!!

This article has also appeared on the Vital Wigan site. Also accredited to site staff but not a member of admin staff at Wigan so I have no idea as to who has posted it Its hypothetical as Kirkland has a good record of saving penalties so there is go guarentee that it would have gone in the net. My personal opinion is that Kompany and Richards could have both been sent off for two yellows and therefore Wigan could have won by more. Can't see the point of this article myself other than to wind people up

Site staff are those who work at Vital Towers, in other words, the bosses.
Tudor
so why are they posting hypothetical articles on individual clubs sites?

It is a bit of fun/banter and a talking point. If you follow the link on the table, you will see what the right result are all about. It is just a talking point, lighten up!
The Fear
Right result or not, we lost! We've got an important jb to do on Thursday now, so let's move on.

The Fear - this lot are a bit hyper that there cash hasn't made that much difference yet!
merlin
And the table does have a degree of trtuh even though its hypothetical - Spurs are still bottom!
merlin
Merlin, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. You say "this lot are a bit hyper that there cash hasn't made that much difference yet!" I actually think you are way off. City has probably the best Academy in the Premiership and our young guns are ready to fire us highter in the Prem. We've been bought, I think because we have that commitment to youth development. Unlike Chelsea we will not just go to the market buying every decent player we can, money no option. Oh and we aren't a selling club any more, Merlin: so you can forget coming in for our best young talents. They're now out of your league!

Christ on a bike. The arab money only secured Robhino so far. What's he supposed to do? Win every game single handedly. That said, he's put in some real team performances with a good work rate.
Johnny Baguette
it really is great consolation to be told that you "should" have had a penalty isnt it... and great for refs too, with there brand new "respect" thingy just starting... I could go on for years on... wait, I have already on the vital pompey forum...
pompeycarpet
Merlin? Again? Thought you'd be better off over at Vital Chelski discussing how to correct last season's trophy-less season than spending all your time here worrying about little old Citeh!!
oliverblue
theres still a long way to go have faith
