Rob Styles Involved In Another Dubious Decision

Google language translator

Referee Rob Styles hit the headlines yet again after a controversial penalty decision and a sending off as 10-man Newcastle drew 2-2 with Manchester City.

What happened?

With only 14 minutes on the clock Habib Beye tackled Robinho on the edge of the box and looked to have taken the ball in a fair challenge but Styles dismissed the 31-year-old right back. Robinho easily put the spot kick past Shay Given in Newcastle's goal.

Reaction

Newcastle's Nicky Butt told Setanta Sports...

'I think everyone knows it was not a penalty and everyone makes mistakes and the referee made one there.'

Newcastle's stand-in manager Joe Kinnear said of the penalty...

'I would just question the referee's position as you look back there are two players in front of him and I do not know how he could make that decision that quickly.'

'If he looks at that (video playback) and then puts his hands up in the air it would be fair enough.'

City boss Mark Hughes added...

'In fairness we got a point out of a game that looked like it was going to go away from us, but it should have been an easy three points for us here.'

Sums it up nicely "Mark Hughes added... 'In fairness we got a point out of a game that looked like it was going to go away from us, but it should have been an easy three points for us here.'"

Makes a change for a decision to go for us especially from RS he only owes us about another six.

Where does Hughes go off being arrogant?? EASY POINT HERE!? Thats a very disrespectful statement to NUFC!

Must have learnt it from his days with Taggart Foreverunited! In fairness to the ref, from his angle it was a penalty, but he was hopelessly off the pace of the game.

trouble was OB ...we were more off the pace of the game than Styles was........
