Peter Schmeichel Talks About His Son Kasper

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes his son and Manchester City's number two shot stopper Kasper, will have to fight his own battles.

Denmark's U21 keeper Kasper Schmeichel is struggling to oust Joe Hart as the Blues first choice goalie having played only one game this season - the Carling Cup defeat away at Brighton, and the former Old Trafford star said he feels awkward in contacting his former team mate Mark Hughes because of it.

Petersaid...

"For me it's a bit of a line to cross. Yes, there are exciting things happening at City with all the money butit's also very confusing. If I speak to Sparky about the new owners, I wouldautomatically have to speak to him about my son and his situation so I don't dothat."

"It's not easy. Kasper is 22 and has to fight his own battles, there's no doubt about that. I'll support him every step of the way."

"Sparky has a very difficult job and I'm not one to put more pressure on him. We're very good friends and it's not fair on him for me to interfere in any kind of way."


The Dane, who will be 22 on Bonfire Night joined City in 2003. Since then he has been loaned out to several lower league clubs, including, Darlington, Bury, Falkirk, Cardiff and Coventry City.

At least he's not carrying on like Ian Wright does, but the fact is Kasper just isn't good enough for the Premiership. If he moves on, he'll drift into obscurity.
