League Two outfit Morecambe have reached a deal to sign Manchester City defender Ryan McGivern on loan until the New Year.

The 18-year-old, who is a Northern Ireland international, will join the Christie Park outfit immediately and boss Sammy McIlroy is hoping he will be available for Saturday's game at Port Vale.

Talking to www.morecambefc.co.uk the Shrimps boss was delighted with the signing...

'I have seen Ryan play a few times and been very impressed by what I have seen and all the reports I have had of him. He will be a very welcome addition to the squad and I am hoping he is available this weekend.'

McGivern was a member of the highly rated Manchester City youth team that won the FA Youth Cup last season.

No Tudor i've not. Great to see the kids go out on loan and get some first team experience. Hope he does well.

I will have to try and get to see him as Christie Park is only three miles from where I live and obviously they are my second team.

Good luck to the lad......it will do him the world of good......no disrespect to Morcambe...but he will shine there....just like Ched did when on loan at Norwich...
