Oasis & Take That Scrap CoMS Gigs

Google language translator

Legend groups Oasis and Take That have had to scrap plans to play at the City of Manchester City Stadium.

Oasis

The groups are kicking off stadium tours in June 2009 and each wanted to perform at the City of Manchester Stadium, however Blues new owners ADUG were simply not interested.

Take That

Take That frontman Gary Barlow said...

'They [MCFC] said they don't need the money.'

Oasis had to resort to gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park, while Take That will now play at the city's Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

For years now, football stadiums the length and breath of Britain have come accustomed to summer events. Thousands flock to see the likes of Elton John perform at stadiums normally used to entertain football fans - plus the hosting clubs profit from otherwise closed arenas. Now City fans can rest assured no such events are likely to take place, well not in the foreseeable anyway.

I cam understand Take That but Oasis should have been given extra dispensation. ADUG need to roll with it.

Oasis = amazing band ... COMS will miss a treat! even if it wasnt about the money ... it would have been a great concert to attend.

Fellas, City desperately needed the money generated by gigs in recent years. That's no longer the case. I understand that the new chairman has been made aware ofthe embarrassment caused at the start of this season by our first UEFA tie being played at Barnsley. The Gallaghers completely understand. As for Take That, absolute rubbish and good riddance.

I agree with your comments Johnny Baguette, espeically when you mention Take That. Thinking about it, they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Oasis.

Still, we can always content ourselves with the fact that Robbie "Effing" Williams has announced he supports the rags when he feels like he needs a win!!!

what about Vera Lynn?

Glad to hear it! We are a football club not a concert venue!

Good riddance to them all it only makes a mess of the pitch.

totally agree that there shouldnt be "gigs" at the ground now we dont need that income.....especially when it affects games as it did for the Eufa game we had to play at Barnsley !!!
