'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Please Stop Winging Elano & Sort It Out

Google language translator

Manchester City midfielder Elano told Sky Sports News earlier today that he wants to please manager Mark Hughes but is sad at his lack of first-team action.

The 27-year-old Brazilian moved to Eastlands in August 2007 after the club paid Shakhtar Donetsk a whopping Ł8million, however since the club sacked previous boss Sven-Göran Eriksson the 5 foot 8 inch play-maker has had limited first team opportunities.

Talking about the gaffer, Elano said...

"When I am playing I know what he wants and when I come off there is nothing from him."

"It's his right, he is the manager. I respect him and I will keep working, arriving on time and doing my duties at the club, but my sadness is not playing"

"I can't hide that from the fans or the president - who wants to make this a big club. I think I have the capabilities to be playing."

Respect

"I want to help by playing. I respect everyone here. I have many friends here and get on with the team 100 per cent."

"I respect the manager a lot but I cannot be happy if I don't play."

Vital Man City says...

"Everyone needs a cuddle when they feel rejected but no one has the divine right to get an automatic first team place."

"If you are feeling sad then work harder in training and show Sparky what you are capable of. Failing that you could always ask me and I'll glady give you a hug!"

Sympathy is not in my vocabulary - sorry!!
Tudor
There is nothing wrong with a player wanting to play rather than some who sit back and collect their wages every week.
alphieblues
Agreed alphieblues but to admit he feels sad because he's not being picked week in, week out is something i'm not used to hearing. Like I said in my article, he needs to knuckle down and prove Sparky wrong.
Tudor
Perhaps he should join Dunne & Richards on the same knuckling down program.
alphieblues
I've noted on the VCZ quotes that his press visits are becoming almost weekly.
Johnny Baguette
What a good idea!
Tudor
Agree with you Tudor. We want to hear "I'm not playing this week so I'm going to put in extra hours next week, and when I do get a chance, I'll show everyone what I'm made of!" Elano - shut up or leave!
oliverblue
100% spot on oliverblue. He should either shut up or sod off.
Tudor
Work harder in training

Use Stephen Ireland as your role model & you will get more games. Rob Fielding
robfielding
Can't belive all the bad press you are giving to Elano. We have won more points when he has played than when he hasn't played. All the work harder comments should be aimed at Dunne & Richards. I suppose when Robinho has one bad game you will be calling for him to sod off!.
alphieblues
What a load of moaning... hes your version of Benni McCarthy!!!
Mikey D
Sorry that you disagree Alphie - it is about opinions after all. Whilst we may have won more games with him, he hasn't influenced a single game since before Xmas '07. That is why he isn't playing, and that is why I'm not interested in his moaning! Rob is exactly right in what he says. Steven Ireland has knuckled down after playing bit parts last season, and is our most consistent performer this time round.
oliverblue
Sorry alphie but all I want to do is stir up a debate and somehow I think I may have succeeded. I have nothing against Elano, except his spoilt-child throw teddies out of the pram attitude. As a previous poster has already said, perhaps he should take a leaf out of Stephen Irelands book.
Tudor
Elano has been good this season!!! he does alot of work brining the ball up from the defense..and it is evident without him, the defender lose the ball, his passing is superb and he has created a great deal this season, stoke game he was magnificent. he is also working harder to tackle this season. hughes seemed to lumber poor defensive errors on him..and dropped him. he is clearly irritated by that and so was i and still am. Elano get play for brazil but not get into the city side,, without doing much wrong.. i would be irritated myself. Hughes willd rive out elano, jo and robinho .. mark my words!
tommytheblue
I dont rate him this season at all we need better than him someone thats not afraid to run back to defence and help out. You could tell he was brazillian cause i have noticed robinho doing the same
dunne deal
Agree tommytheblue and he will bring in hard men and we will finish up like Rovers being hated by everyone for the type of football being played.
alphieblues
Without Elano, we will not get the best out of Robinho, he will not be happy then and want out ( Chelsea in January ?), and when two go the third will follow, plus the word will go out to all Brazillians don't go to City. Do we want to become a very expensive Blackburn ?
seac
I only have one comment to make........Brazil have not played well for the last 12 months or so......and only have 2 or three good players at the moment and we have one of them in Robinho.....most of the rest of Brazils current squad are good mediocre players and we have two of them......yes Elano looked class last year when he started playing for us, because we had no other decent players.....now we have better....so it is harder to fit Elano into the team..........just think on this one too.......if Petrov and Bojinov were fit.......how would Elano......and Jo.......then figure in the team....... ....yes he will be upset he isnt playing and more so cos City are losing whilst he's not playing........but again, if he was to be picked then someone like Ireland would have to be dropped........NO I dont think so !!!.........and now Gelson has a ban.....there is an opening for him against Hull.......so we might see him get a chance to prove to MH that he is worth keeping and playing in the team...
lincolnblue
I hate to break it to you guys and no disrespect but you would of taken Rovers league positions the last couple of seasons... and the cup runs as well. I appreciate you are aiming higher than that but being an expensive Rovers is not all that bad! we have punched above our weight for years. Give Sparky a chance and the fitness and "togetherness" of the team will improve no end!
