Please Stop Winging Elano

Elano, an unused substitute against Tottenham last weekend winged to Sky Sports News claiming he was sad about the lack of first team action. That outburst has cost the 27-year-old a whole week's wage.

The Daily Mail reported Sparky as saying...

"He [Elano] knows that's not the way to do it. We discussed it and he understands that it was wrong."

"Everyone at the club knows it was wrong. You knock on my door and we speak. We've done that now. The situation has been resolved, he knows my take on it and he understands that it can't happen again. He has been fined."'

"Elano is an emotional guy and he wants to play every game, which is to his credit. Every professional footballer wants to play in every game, but sometimes I will make decisions that will affect players personally and professionally."

Elano's Future

"We have players in the squad who I want to work with and use and Elano is certainly in that category." added Hughes.

The fine makes a point to the whole squad about how communication works at Man City. Messages shouldn't get left with newspaper reporters or TV presenters. But the challenge now is for Hughes to start Elano against Hull and give him the chance to make amends on the pitch and show us how good a footballer he is.

The likes of Schmeichel take note.
