Dunne Plays For ROI

Despite Manchester City skipper's wife going into labour, Richard Dunne has done a u-turn and will play in tonight's Republic of Ireland friendly game against Poland.

Originally, the 29-year-old defender flew back to England late on Tuesday night to be with his wife but the FAI announced at 3.50pm today (19/11/08) that Dunne has returned for the match at Croke Park.

Dunne has been outstanding for his country and is one of the main reasons why Ireland boss Trapattoni's team has taken seven points from a possible ten in the World Cup qualifiers.

For goodness sake don't get injured Dunnie! But I would be interested to know why your international form has been so impressive while people are saying you have poor form in the Premiership this season.

Congratulains going out to the skipper! Now then, does this hitting of the target so to speak constitute another own goal? In a positive sense of course!!
