Premiership Experience Over Quality?

Premiership Experience Over Quality?

Google language translator

The last couple of games in the premiership if you take away the Arsenal game have seen City's goals and flair dry up. I find this more than a coincidence that since the experience of Benjani and Vassell have returned to the starting eleven, the club have failed to produce many positive results.

You can honestly not think that Benjani and Vassell are worth forcing Jo and Elano to the bench. Mark Hughes is making a mistake with this, and I wonder how many more performances like the one against United we will witness before Hughes wakes up and smells the coffee.

The fact that Jo is stuck on the bench for the whole 90 minutes because Sturridge is preferred to him, is absolutely ridiculous. I have been rather impressed with how well Jo has adapted to the premiership lifestyle, even if that means being caught in a nightclub. He will prove to be a goal scorer if he gets played.

As for Vassell, i'm sorry but Elano wins hands down, But thanks to Hughes we will most likely get rid of both of them because Elano now wants to leave, and Vassell is simply not good enough.

Aaron has my 100% support for this article. I agree with every word of it.

I disagree on the Jo part, I think he has been disappointing so far and I prefer Sturridge over him any day of the week based on what I have seen so far. I don't understand why Benjani and Vassell are picked ahead of Elano and Jo though.

A typical MH strategy preferring brawn over brains and to think the majority are trusting him with the transfer kitty.

Unfortunately, I agree with every word apart from the fact I do like Sturridge and would try playing him and Jo together. £80 million spent and the team is going backwards with strange team selections and woeful tactical changes with just a few crums of joy for us to feed on. Apart from Tottenham is there a team that is performing worse in the league with the personnel available?. A review of last seasons dvds should have been enough to show Hughes that Benjani and Vassell are not good enough forwards for an av team in the Premiership never mind a team aspiring for the top. I wonder how long our owners are going to listen to Hughes' up to now empty promises. The way he talks you would have thought he had taken over a team that was flirting with relegation last year. We were fourth for over half the season and actually finished top ten in probably our worst position at any time during the season. In my humble opinion he is wrecking the confidence of both Elano and Jo for the sake of two players who have continually let the team down in front of goal. Could you see Benjani or Vassell scoring 10 goals in 12 Champions League games or getting a game for Brazil? I do hope Hughes is successful but up to now I am really not impressed or reassured with his performance to date. Is he up to the standard required for a club of Citys size and ambition considering the star players he will need to attract and manage for the team to make the step change required?. The owners must be wondering right now. 12 points out of next 15 is not unreasonable and we really need them before the transfer window opens. I really hope Hughes starts delivering on his hype bec up to now he looks out of his depth at City.

Taken from the forum....MH has had plenty of time to get to know his players but this isn't good enough. Perhaps the tide is slowly turning in favour of a manager who can handle the pressure and knows how to pick a winning side.

Respect your views completely Aaron, but I think Jo has been terrible so far. He's struggling to justify the price tag, and fully expect him to fall further down the pecking order in January.

Even Henry took a season to hack it in the Premiership.

Nothing would make me happier than to be proven wrong Alphie. I want every player who pulls on the sky blue shirt to succeed. I'm just not holding my breath!

Judging by what he cost, Jo must have some class and should be given an extended chance to prove it. Vassell? Nice chap and a trier (he certainly tries my patience) but he's not been worth a place in the squad for two years .... at least. He should be sold in January, if any club can be persuaded to take him. MH must consider drastic action for every game until then and select the team on football ability - not temper tantrums!
