Mark To Only Add 5 New Faces?

City boss Mark Hughes has spoken today about his transfer target for January. As he spoke to the Manchester Evening News, he concluded that he could bring in up-to 5 players.

'We are looking for targets to balance the team. There are a lot of players out there who people are getting very excited about - some huge stars - but maybe not in the positions we are looking to strengthen."

'January is a very difficult window to negotiate for top players as they are inevitably involved with Champions League teams striving to win titles. To extract players from top clubs is very difficult as, quite simply, those clubs don't want to deal with you."

'The reality is that we have four or five positions to improve and we are working on it. There is a lot of speculation and the problem is that many people, agents, are trying to take advantage of it.'

With past performances it`s going to take more than 5 faces to lift a deflating City. The Left-back, Centre-back, Centre-Midfield, Left midfield and striker can all be improved and if the rumours about a possible new goalkeeper then one of these positions will not be filled. Martin Petrov and Bojinov are all players we should not forget about as they can make a difference.

Mark Hughes has also supported Robinho`s quotes that the club lacks a wining mentality. I`m sorry but when your own manager doubts his own team`s mentality, then theirs something wrong.

"This club is going to change hugely, we want to be part of the best clubs in the world but the new owners do not tell us who should come or not."

'They just want us to communicate the names of the players we need and they give us the means to sign them."

'People are going to hear a lot of Manchester City in the next months and years. But, first things first, we have to have a balance and that winning mentality.'

I`m just confused to how Elano gets fined for telling it how it is when Robinho has a huge dig at the whole squad and Mark Hughes backs it up. I get the feeling with Mark Hughes that if he does not like you, then you`re screwed basically.

I know one thing for sure though; I`m losing all hope in Hughes now.

I know two or three Rovers fans and they all say he had his favourites with them.

Definitely some restlessness amongst a lot of Blues over this issue, Aaron. It's unsettling. I'm not alone either in reckoning Elano faked his injury against PSG. He'd had a nightmare. There was no eye contact with MH as he came off.

I agree with the possible faked injury......it looked like that to me as well.....

I thought Elano's remarks were actually harmless and did not warrant a fine. If this has been compounded by being squeezed out of the first team reckoning then that is more than sad. But I cannot accept that Elano feigned an injury. If he did I'm afraid he would be gone in January -- and I don't want that to happen. If there's any bad blood between Hughes and Elano then they should sort it out. The interests of the club should come before a player -- but it should also come before the manager too.
