First City Signing Lined Up?

Google language translator

Calciomercato.com the Italian website has gone public with the story that Udinese hotshot Antonio di Natale's agent Bruno Carpeggiani is in London right now discussing the potential transfer of the striker to City in January.

This correspondent's first reaction is the lack of success Italian players have had in converting to the Premier League down the years. Rolando Bianchi being a classic example.

However, di Natale at 31 years old is experienced and a potential Paulo DiCanio style impact can't be ruled out.

He certainly knows where the onion bag is. 9 goals in 25 appearances for Italy, 49 goals in 159 with Empoli and 48 goals in 143 with Udinese mean he's no duffer.

He is reknowned for his pace and playing in behind the centre forward.

One thing's for sure, if this story has substance, it means City are not hanging about this time around in the transfer window.

What do you reckon, Vital MCers?

If he plays behind the striker that means we will still need a striker that can put tham away. I don't see this signing as solving our striker problem.

NO! Not another SERIE A flop please! Also notice that his goal ratio is only 1 in 3 and he's 31 years old! Please tell me it's just speculation!

Not a chance. Not good enough for the squad we need to build let alone a starter. As alphieblues says we would benefit from a first striker -- I would add one who can regularly score goals with his head -- but for second striker we already have Joao who just needs a target man in front of him.

The players agent has spoken out and said it's all a load of crock!!
