With the world's economic climate in crisis, football in general, like all of us is being very shrewd when it comes to 'splashing out the dosh'.

With the January transfer window just around the corner and with most of us facing tough financial times, there can't be many clubs left in the world in a position similar to Manchester City whereby money is virtually no object.

Even Chelsea are making redundancies in an attempt to cut costs while AC Milan and Real Madrid don't have the financial muscle they once had, only six months ago.

Speculation and rumours surrounding Manchester City's spending power has been hitting the headlines for months now. Talk about Kaka, David Villa and the like moving to Eastlands has been fairly mooted compared to what is about to come.

I predict the transfer window, as a whole will be one of the quietest on record, however on the flip side, Manchester City's acquisitions will be nothing short of sensational.

The media are sniffing out a January world exclusive, and there is going to be only one place the columnists will find it - yes, you've guest it, Manchester City Football Club.

This January one should be an explosive one for Man City. Light the blue touchpaper and away we go! We are on the verge of a new era of major success -- and if Hughes has indeed done his homework then we should be able to sign some world class players. It would be a damp squib, though, if the likes of Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge show up at Eastlands...

For me they would be one of the last two on my wish list. And we won't be taken for a ride paying silly prices because at the moment cash is king and we can call the tune.

Right then. It's going to mad. I predict outs: Onouha, Jo, Elano. Most probably on loans. We have a relatively small squad so based on recenty selections I think these lads have had their Balt pie and chips. In: Dramatic buys all round. I think they are going to throw serious money at this if the agent links are true. January and next summe could change the face of world football.
