'If It's Football, It's Vital'

To Build And Not Replace?

Google language translator

Man City Boss Mark Hughes has today spoken about his view on how the January transfers will go. He also shared some truth with the media, which in return could mean the media have something truthful to write and will have no need to link us with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Ok I'm being a little optimistic about the media, but I'm actually very happy with what Hughes had to say and the way he answered them.

Mark Hughes spoke about how he wants to keep the exit doors firmly shut and focus on the welcome door:

Everyone keeps saying that I am going to replace huge amounts of players but that is not the case,"

'I am just trying to add to the quality that I have here. We have good players.'

Is this a good idea? I know that this gives me hope that Elano will stay, but does this mean the likes of Vassell and Mills will stay at the club? Mark Hughes should be looking to offload some of the fringe players because, ok our owners have money to throw about, but these fringe players could produce a negative effect on the first team.

Hughes was then asked about certain players he would be looking to bring in. Bellamy and Sergio Aguero were mentioned. This was met with laughter by Hughes who replied very cheekily:

"I think they are numbers 49 or 50,' chuckled Hughes. 'I am not going to go public with who we might or might not be looking to buy but I will tell you that we will not be buying all the players with whom we have been linked."

There goes by hope for the likes of Kaka, Torres and even Bridge. This has decreased my hope for January as I can see after so much hype, we will most likely end up with Heskey and Downing and people who are in all respect good, but not necessary better than what we have.

Maybe this is jus a decoy, and the likes of Kaka and Co could be walking the corridors of The City Of Manchester Stadium, but in all likelihood, its more of a don't hold your breathe kind of enthusiasm.

I'm tired of all the speculation and rumours. January please hurry up and get here!

I thought MH went over to Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago to give them his list of priority signings. I wouldn't mind betting that Heskey & Downing and for that matter Bellamy were anywhere near the radar.

I think there may be one or two of those sort of names on the list, in case he cant get who he actually wants in Jan.......so that he can still add some strength and depth to the squad......
