Benjani Out Injured

Manchester City forward Benjani is set to be sidelined for a couple of weeks due to having sustained a hamstring injury in the defeat to Everton at the weekend.

This is one of a number of injuries that have dented his City career. Fearing the influx of players, Hughes intends on bringing in, Benjani must be worried for his future. However Benjani is a proven goal-scorer well for one season anyway. At the moment apart from Jo, their really isn`t any other options except throwing one of the young guns into the mix.

Mark Hughes told Man City`s official website: 'We've lost Benjani again at the weekend with a hamstring and he'll probably be out for a number of weeks. We're a bit threadbare.

'A number of the guys are carrying injuries, so that will have an impact.

'When you've got games coming up thick and fast; you have to have a fit and able squad.'

Could this be the last chance for Jo to prove himself? Rumours have it that both Jo and Elano are set for winter moves away from Eastland`s. I can`t believe however that Hughes would let these players leave. In my opinion Jo has shown flashes of what he can do. When he is being played, we do score goals even if it`s not him on the score sheet. Elano has proved he can be world-class, and if he`s played in his attacking role, he can be lethal. Why he gets played in DM, I really don`t know.

It seems as though all I do in every article is slate Mark Hughes, but I still want him to do well. He is one of the best young British managers around, but this is his chance to prove himself in a top job. Is he capable of this? I`m sure after January his future will be made very clear.

Just getting worse and worse for you guys, wonder how long before Hughes is forced out by the money men?
The Fear
Terrible timing for an injury. I guess Hughes will have to play Fernandes in the DM role with Kompany instead of Elano, and put the Brazilian up front with Jo. After all the rumours about Hughes looking to move Jo and Elano out of the club they are now becoming his only chance to keep his job.

Well Hughes don't want half-good players, showing how good they can be going one step forward then two steps back he wants full-time good players that show it week in, week out! Thats the players who are champions are made of!

its a mystery why benjani form has dipped so much, he looked a decent player at pompey. he should be sold or sent on loan. i dont think jo will play, evans is a scorer, sturridge bloews ot and cold. we got problems upfront against west brom.... now i wudnt sign owen because he would be poor investment with terrible injury record and he cant play the lone strker role hughes favours at city. when city have unlimited funds, we should go for the best injury-free strikers. whats hapened to santa cruz??????????????? is form this year stinks! i wouldnt spend 20mill on him, hes only had 1 good season in his career, his goal scoring record at bayern was poor. id sign three strikers in january (villa, gudjohnsen, aguero)
enzo city
Nah Cruz is not happy at Blackburn thats why he playing poor!
mcfcthriller
well we dont have many options until MH can bring in a couple of strikers.....so we may as well give Evans and Sturridge a go.......they cant do any worse than the others have done over the last weeks.......(months even)....

richards, elano, jo, benjani, ball, hamman, dunne are not happy playing at city. hamman and ball refused to warm up as subs for hughes at hull. yet it wasnt made a issue by the media or with fans. only a matter of time before robinho becomes unhappy. regardless if a player is happy of not, they should be giving 100% in the blue shirt.

Bring Weiss into the squad. Could do worse.
Johnny Baguette
I would like to see Weiss in the squad too. But what about Mee and Ball? When Psycho led the (management) line the doors seemed to be always open to youth. He had no money to spend (uhum, except Samaras) but the morale of the youth coming forward can only help us now. We need a squad of 40 -- not 25
