Defoe Anyone?

Google language translator

Reports surfacing today have indicated that Mark Hughes is ready to fire an incredible bid in the direction of Portsmouth who needs money fast. Jemaine Defoe is already a target for his former club Spurs and Aston Villa but Manchester City look set to out bid them with what ever it takes.

The bid if you believe the papers is around 16 million pounds which is a tad steep but is surely worth the money if Jo`s transfer value is anything to go by.

Manchester City are also being continually linked with Bellamy and now his team mate Parker. Parker would be welcomed with open arms for me because he is someone who impresses me nearly every time I see him. Where would he fit? Who knows, but its better to have backup like Parker than Fernandes.

How can 16mil be 'expensive' for a striker who does exactly what it Say's on the tin???
pentonpompey
Can't see him coming oop North whilst 'arry is after him.
alphieblues
As a Spurs fan who watched the selfish over rated little *****, Your welcome to him. The other players faces dropped when he got the ball.
Morgan.
I've heard similar Morgan.
Johnny Baguette
am interested to know, are city fans happy at the prospect of Hughes being allowed tobuild his own team or are you disapointed that the lies of kaka arent waiting to sign on he dotted line?
oxfordspur
Can we have a large wad of cash and Benji back please?
Tantona
personally... I don't like him (possibly becuase getting him meant selling benji!) - he is amazing when he is in form - up with the likes of robinho (yes, really!) - however when out of form, he sulks, moans, doesn't pass, and can't finish. Unfortunatly, he spends most of his time out of form, as when he IS out of form, it takes a massive stroke of luck for him to get his confidence back. Anyway... why would you want him? (your welcome to have him though) when you have so many strikers as it is, and so much money?! (oh, and the rumours going round are saying 24 million, not 16!). Sorry for the long disjointed post...
pompeycarpet
Oh yes! And he sulks BIG TIME!!!!!
pentonpompey
no way will he go for 24m, I don't think he'll go for 16m to be honest. I thought we (Villa) missed a trick last Jan not bidding for him when he was 'cheap' as we were still in touching distance of 4th (Liverpool) at the time. We are also being linked with him again now, personally .... sod knows why I'm saying this, you guys aren't interested! LOL .... I'd go for a wow player but wouldn't be upset if Defoe did come, or Crouch for that matter. I;d break the bank for Owen and take the risk on his injury record, basically only because I'm not paying the money out, if I was the one with the money, I'm not sure I'd touch him with a barge poll !
The Fear
I wouldnt have Defoe, couch or owen. All over rated!! Ive just mentioned about defoe. Couch is a one trick overrated pony and owen is a mercenary injured has been!
Morgan.
nono, quite wrong there morgan! everyone is so caught up saying "crouch is a one trick over rated pny" that they miss the fact that he is actually a very good player. Having watched him week in week out, I can assure you, if pompey sell him, we are in REAL trouble. If we sell Defoe, someone else can very easily step into his boots.
pompeycarpet
NO NO NO NO NO! Big time Charlie with major attitude problems. Makes Bellamy seem affable! Besides, don't think there are enough page three models in the Manchester area to keep him happy! RSC, Podolski, Gomes or Owen, reluctantly even Bellamy before Defoe.
fifthcolumnblue
Crouch is *****! Period!!!! waiting for - ''Scored so many for England blah blah blah'' - Yes he has against ***** teams that you and I could score against. If hes so good, why to teams keep selling him? Answer, Cause hes not that good!!!
Morgan.
Surely there must be some more Brazilians/Italians/French/Argentinians who you want to spend money on before the likes of DeFoe...You're big-time now...no need to stint on lower-level players like DeFoe and Bellamy who are more suited to teams in the relegation battle.
Jollyboysouting
Defoe seems to me like they type of player that needs his manager to pat his head and give him biscuits in order to play well. Like Harry. Hughes, as we have seen, isnt that sort of manager so Defoe would be a massive flop if he arrived.
darryl28
I watched Defoe during his time at Bournemouth (loan). He was *****e hot then and still is today. However would I want him at City - No thanks, I would prefer a world class striker if you please.
Tudor
Morgan - Pompey (originaly) sold him becuase he was too good for us. Villa then sold him becuase he didnt play well/didnt settle (the only time). Southampton then sold him becuase he was too good for them. Liverpool then sold him(very reluctantly) becuase he wanted first team football - which a player of his standards deserves. No, I won't bring in the england goals,as I agree. However, his goals against AC Milan, Herenveen - he is our clubs highest scorer this season, ahead of defoe. He holds play up better than defoe, He links up better, he shoots better, and he is more consistent than defoe. When he came to pompey, I thought "over rated blah blah blah" - he's certainly not that!
pompeycarpet
back on the subject of defoe - completely agree with Darry and Tudor. If you pat him on the back, he plays well, he is a good talent, and when in form, will link up play too. but he's just not world class.
pompeycarpet
When he's good he's great but when he wants to throw his toys out of the pram well, you're welcome.
storagematt
We NEVER sign players who are linked with us. So it won't happen thank goodness.
alphieblues
Pompeycarpet - Tottenham sold him to you to start with for 100k, becuase he wasnt good enough! He is over rated and *****! Falls over to much and cant jump!! (might score with his head but still cant jump, hardly an athlete!!)Herenveen???!??? Hardly best in the Europe!!
Morgan.
Peter Crouch is the target man, not Defoe. Mark my words, Hughes is looking for a real impact player in front of SWP, Ireland and Robinho... Peter will get to play for the club he loves
Sindbad
morgan, I think you're getting confused with Robbie Keane.
Jollyboysouting
Jollyboy - How am I getting confused???? Explain!
Morgan.
all will be revealed.....starting from tomorrow.....!!!!!
lincolnblue
Today!! Let your dinar's roll, sheiks! Show the world that you can sign 11 flops, which cost you 50 million each! Go on!
