Well, provided it's true, then you'll have a classy left-back! Actually, I am kind of sad about it, since he is a good player and a nice bloke. I'd rather have Cashley Cole sold - this money-hunting- machine.

A great signing and a real solution to Michael Ball from a Newcastle fan's perspective. We'd love a Bridge type player but unfortunately your Arab money talks. Big style.

You'll be getting a quality defender on your books, and a great guy to boot! I'll be sad to see him leave, but 12m for a player that's likely to make only a handful of appearances this season is hard to turn down.

sorry to see him go he'll always be a legend after that GOAL that he scored at Highbury to knock Arsenal out of the CL!

Solid first signing if true, and the times are 20% right with their transfer stories apparantly

Didnt the sorry lad just sign a 4 year extension??

Taiwo was my first choice, but id rather have Bridge over Warnock and Lahm :) Im sure he wouldnt take long to settle in the team either which is a plus.

Can't say I am excited by him coming at that price or at all, if I am being honest. 6M is his true valuation. So much to not being fleeced. I have already stated on another post the superior skilled and more pacy international left backs available for that price. I suppose at least it gives Chelsea some cash to help them stop Utd winning the title and we get someone better than the limited Michael Ball. Chelsea replaced him soon enough in their first team so I suppose when we finally get a decent manager he will end up happily warming our bench too.

Seriously, I would rather give you Ashley Cole. Wayne was one of the big signings made by us when we got our cash injections... And I prefer him as a person and a player to Ashley Cole.

I will take your word for it Legend of Zola. I would rather have Zhirkov or Adriano of Sevilla who are far better. As you have a quality manager you will no doubt get to see one or the other gracing your ground sometime soon. I assure you if you get either you will not miss Bridge. We are good at that paying top dollar for other clubs rejects to finance their improvements ala Benjani/Defoe. The easiest position to fill with real world class quality and Hughes chooses a bench warmer at Chelsea and pays double his value, typical.

I think that's a little harsh to Wayne. He's got good footballing ability, is versatile, never gives less than 100%. We won the league when we had Bridge... We haven't with Ashley Cole. (Not being completely serious on that last point...)

12 mil?a bit steep don't ye think?

Well I don't really think money is a worry for City anymore. Why not spend? And although Wayne may not be a massive superstar, the reason he is so popular with Chelsea fans is that he is a great team player as well. In my eyes, the only thing that Ashley Cole has that Bridge doesn't is that extra bit of pace.

Just saw Chelsea are looking at Zhirkov if we get Bridge... Hope ex CSKA man Jo can put in a good word for us and we get Zhirkov instead!

No confirmation yet. Somehow I still doubt it. 12M is a helluvalot for a Chelsea benchwarmer.

Chelsea Benchwarmer? I mean, have you guys seen him play?????? Gwad, just because A Cole is there, he's benched! Solid, solid defender, brilliant cross, good forward overlaps... 12 million is a freaking bargain!!!! No seriously, he's an amazing coup for you guys. We love bridgey, and would have loved it even more if he's have seen hi8s contract through at the Bridge.

6 million evaluation? Man, you arent the "budget" club anymore! If Jo was worth THAT much, Bridgey is easily worth 12 mill. As I said, it's real coup. Feck it.

12 million is too much and bridge is not as good as warnock, i think thats were city will go knocking, but hope not cos we want to keep him

If this is finalised it will be a definite coup as JT said. I would now prioritise going for Given.

Saimon, he's good enough to keep Ickle Ronnie under control. Just abuse Ronaldo a little and watch him getting riled so much, you can see the smoke out of his ears! Bridge is good enough to keep anybody quiet. Not a good thought for Joe Cole, though, when we face them later this year! :D

Wayne has to pass a medical and agree personal terms (no trouble there then) and he'll be a City player. Nice one Sparky, cracking buy me thinks.
