Bridge Over Troubled Left Backs: Wayne Signs

Google language translator

Thirty minutes before today's FA Cup kick off against Forest at Eastlands, Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Chelsea and England left back Wayne Bridge...Chief Executive Garry Cook introduced the player to the City crowd minutes before kick off.

That's the left side of City's defence strengthened considerably.

City's Official Site takes up the story...

'Manchester City have today completed the signing of Wayne Bridge from Chelsea for an undisclosed amount.

The 28-year-old England international left back has joined the Blues on a four and a half year deal and becomes the Club's first signing of the January transfer window.

Mark Hughes said of his latest signing: 'Wayne`s a player I know I played alongside him at Southampton and I saw him come through the ranks. He was an outstanding young player and he`s progressed year on year in his career.

'He`s a successful player. He`s an England international and has just played for one of the top four sides in the country.

'He`s of the right quality and he`s the type of player we need to attract. We need good players that understand this league and we`ll look to carry on in that way and add more if we can.'

Wayne will wear squad number 25.'

POOR BRIDGE LURED BY MONEY.i am happy he left because he sincerely deserved regular football. But Its a WRONG CHOICE.I am afraid soon he will be no. 2 at the end of season when u will buy new players may be a better LB. Unless the players are after money I will be surprised to see any of kaka,Messi,De Rossi to join u atleast at this rate where u have no UCL or UEFA CUP at all.People do forger to mention 1 important thing betwen Chelsea & City now.We were already playing UCL before Roman took over even we wrere in the semis.David Villa is a possibility because Valencia is financially very badly hurt on the other hand Eto is also a chance because a guy who thinks to play in Uzbekistan(For some time ) just for money he can do anything. He is greedy.Any how it will be intresting & all the best becuase I know football is just not about having world's best 11 players in 11 positions.many more things matter to have success.

Good grief, by the look of things, City will be linked with Terry, Nesta, Puyol, Ferdinand, Carvalho, Gallas, Pique, Marquez, Metzelder][ Sergio Ramos, A Cole, Evra, Clichy, Sagna, Bosingwa, Rafeal, Insua, Abidal, Dani Alves, Drenthe, ....... So on and so forth! You fellows are defensively inept!

Shame he had to go but I appreciate that he needed to have first team football. Top quality player and a great team worker - you couldn't have found a better LB, I don't think.
