Speculation is in overdrive now that the January transfer window is open, and what with Manchester City's lack lustre performance against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Blues fans are certainly voicing their opinion.

Saturday 3 January 2008, Vital Manchester City recorded one of our best days for site visits with well over half a million hits. Not bad seeing as though the current admin regime has only been in place since May 2008.

Continuing on the message board theme, how about visiting our forums and tell us what you think about the current state of the club.

Here is just a small sample of what City fans have been saying:

As city fans we dont know what real success looks like... sadly its down the road at old trafford. Fergusons reign of dominence is the bench mark of all managers... But he won leagues in scotland with aberdeen NOT rangers or celtic, beat real madrid in the cup winners cup. He won the FA cup and cup winners cup again with united before winning the league. Without arab billions to rely on. He wasnt finishing 8th with boring blackburn evey year. 5 years for hughes or the 2 years as suggested by buzz would be a wrong move. After all wenger won the league with arsenal in his first full season - without arab billions. Mourinho won the league in his first season - with russian millions. Success doenst have to take 2,3,4,5 years. With the right choices and decisions, it is proven clubs can have success. Chelsea and arsenal were in better positions than city, but with money we have we can turn the football world on its head. We are on another planet fininacially to everyone. Imagine what a real top manager could achieve at city , with better crimcumstances (money wise) than arsenal, utd and chelsea????? Yes -city have sacked many managers in the past. This shouldnt hinder clear judgement to the current results of the team. Yes - we are worse under hughes then we were under preace (points wise, not entertainment) Yes-Hughes is underperforming constantly as a manager. YES-the players dont like him. YES-they should be playing for the shirt, but if your manager cant inspire a good team spirit, consistancy, improvement, it makes your job alot harder. City have been given a gift from the heavens....ADUG BILLIONS! If we were broke, id give hughes more time. But we are not. We dont have to stay loyal to manager who is crap, jsut for the sake of being loyal. We can afford the best, to the best! Imagine if hughes signs 5 players in jan, they will need time to gel- thats a fact. The current squad isnt gelling NOW!!!! Hes had 6 months and they are not buying into his ideas. How on earth will he mix the "relegation allstars" (cruz, bellamy, parker, upson- none of which are ripping up trees at there clubs) into a squad that clearly dislikes him anyway. City will likely be fighting relegation through feb-march. Then hughes is replaced in the summer, thats near 200million hughes has spent achieving f-all! Get a world class manager in now and prepare for next season. A proper assault on a top4 finish, not preparing travel arrangements to bramhall lane. It looks like they all the lads misssven and they are playing to get hughes the sack. And he doesnt need any more help in that department. Food for thought. Richards and dunne are woeful this season because corluka has gone. Effectively we had three centre backs in defence. Richards had dunne and corluka either side of him, to hide his short comings.

I take your point Enzo and you have some good reasoning, but when Wenger took over at Arsenal, they weren't a struggling side, they were a good team and the name Arsenal attracted good players, with good backing, crowds and a rich board. I have seen City win many cups and titles in my time, but they have never been able to sustain the momentum they started in the late 60's early seventies, they lacked leadership and too many changes brought about just bring in more players than we could cope with.It wasn't until Joe Roytle came in that we start to sweep out the deadwood and this was carried on by KK, who got us back here. We have had a few hairum scarum seasons on the brink of nosediving back down to the lower leagues and along comes His Higness the sheikh and he has promised to make us a top class team. He believes in Mark Hughes, who to be fair has not had the chance to spend the money he has been given. I still dont think this january window is a true one, Clubs want to hang onto their jewels because they are still in competitions and we as a responsible club want to play a fair price for a players service. It was not too many months ago that we were all saying that we would like the Academy to survive and that we should use the players from the academy in the team, but a few defeats have changed all that it seems into we must buy and buy big.We can't have it both ways, we need to build a team which has good foundations, not one that is built by throwing money at it,because the sort of player that comes purely for the money, has no loyalty and will up and away at the next club that comes along waving a fat cheque book. Let Hughesy build his team. I know we are all disappointed in yesterdays results and I bet you no more that Sparky, but if you blame Sparky, then you must also blame the players for getting paid yesterday for pretending to play footbal, under false pretences and having ther cheek to take the money. Yhey should donate all their wages from the game to charity.

If Hughes is going to be allowed to make all these signings then surely he is the man the owners see as long term for the job or why let him spend a shed load of money.

City have lost quite a few cup matches in the past, to teams in lower positions than Forest are.......and Managers were not sacked....come on, he has only had half a season to do anything...I will be making my judgement at the "end" of this season.....
