Pompey Match Called Off

Google language translator

The game at Fratton Park has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

According to the official Portsmouth FC website, the decision was made by referee Mike Dean following a 10.15am inspection of the Fratton Park pitch after temperatures dipped to minus seven degrees centigrade overnight.

Portsmouth Chief Executive Peter Storrie said: "We've had heaters on the pitch for most of the week but unfortunately some frost got in down the middle of the pitch and that's where the problem is.

"We wanted the game on today because we've got key players back and they've got key players missing."

The fixture will have to be rearranged but there has been no date set as yet.

Well that's probably done you more of a favour than it's done us. Fckin weather, even that hates us. No doubt a leaving present from Defoe.

Surely, regardless of where the postponement will leave us points wise this weekend, we all need a break and more time is now available to Hughes and the board to get this squad sorted out.

Perhaps its a blessing in disguise?
Tudor
That said, it's a very late postponement for our travelling fans and there could be repercussions?

I hope there aren't too many of you who started the journey before hearing the news

Fratton Park is the furthest away ground that we have to visit. I am sure our travelling fans will not take the news well as they have most likely left already. Tudor, you are right- It is indeed a blessing in disguise! The fixture list may catch up with us though. Hopefully Cook and Aldridge can concentrate on getting a few more players in while the squad recovers from various injuries.

both sides will field a stronger side later in the month, so the game may be harder for both.

With SWP, Ireland and Robinho all out I found it hard to see us winning this game although I was looking forward to it! Hope the City fans heard the news before they got too far down south

Ireland will now be suspended for the Pie Tasters next week.

I think we have made some moves which hjave been rejected so far. Next I think we will see who we really want at the club, either going in higher or moving on to the next target.
