'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Come Together And Move On, Blues

Kakagate: So who do you believe this morning? City's stance that we hadn't reached the offer stage or the spin Berlusconi spun since last week...?

City's hierarchy state:

'The discussions reached only a preliminary stage and the player was not involved at any time. No commercial terms were framed.'

The Blues Executive Chairman Garry Cook went one further by adding: 'Whilst Manchester City Football Club has an obvious interest in world class players of the quality of Kaka, we owe it to our fans that such a transfer must work on every level; commercially, financially, in terms of results on the field and within Manchester City's broader community.'

Meanwhile Silvio Berlusconi's media machine chose to trumpet the end of the saga as being Kaka's decision, something that hardly surprised those of us and the few hacks in the 'Street Of Shame*' who predicted this was all a classic Berlusconi 'ready up...'

"Berlusconi's £100 Million Hoax?"

I hope City's Board, essentially football naiive, learn from this very public episode rapidly as Frank Shinawatra's Thai regime did over their embarrassingly drawn out courtship of Kaka's team mate Ronaldinho, Garry Cook being the one common denominator.

Certainly as things stand Berlusconi and AC Milan are supposed to be the winners in all directions at this stage, but maybe this could prove a pivotal moment in City's redevelopment that we can work to our advantage.

The saga is thankfully over and the hacks, football figures who really should know better and rival fans who have been foaming and pontificating relentlessly over Berlusconi's £100 Million fee and astronomic wages revelation will now get their day shrieking 'disaster' for City.

But this moment could prove to be the one that galvanises City's squad and fans into coming together and moving on with points to prove. Any squad member who isn't up for the cause can walk away.

Time to close ranks Blues and time to focus on getting right behind our team.

A final word goes out for new signing Craig Bellamy. I have been one of his fiercest critics down the years and remain so, but I'm asking every Blue reading this article to get behind the bloke and give him a clean slate. He came across on MCFCTV.COM last night as a man with a mission and ready to repay the faith put in him by City's management team.

Time to get nasty City and find that siege mentality.
