Manchester City Football Club are delighted to announce that the signing of Nigel de Jong from Hamburg SV for an undisclosed fee has been completed. The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder with 29 international caps inked in a four-and-a-half year contract after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical earlier today. De Jong, who played against City in the pre-season friendly at the HSV Nordbank Arena in July, joined Hamburg from Ajax in 2006 and was a team-mate of City’s summer signing Vincent Kompany. Nigel becomes the Blues' second signing of the week following the arrival of Craig Bellamy, and along with the former Hammer, de Jong's squad number is yet to be confirmed.

This could prove to be a brilliant and influential signing. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him play with Vince.
Olebluey
Solid player with a good football head and more importantly lots of spine, something we have been lacking recently.
Doody
ِِAll the views I heard said he a top player, I hope he be like " bosvelt".
city 81
yes City81 only younger, we have started to build our team.
Buzz Lightyear
But BL, Can he & Bridge play in uefa ?!
city 81
De Jong is very talented I'll admit. He's miles behind Van Der Vaart and Sneijder but he has his own strengths. Unfortunately I think this is the best transfer you've made since the Arabs took over. But I think he'll be played out of position just to occupy him the midfield which could see him flop!
ForeverUnited
City81 Bridge can play but not sure about De Jong. It is good that we can get a club to agree a transfer, It is true all the english clubs inflate their prices. I think the reason that the figures are undisclosed is that so other clubs don't know what we pay for players and the papers guess at the figures and come out with various sums of money.
Buzz Lightyear
great signing......he will be another VK......just what we needed.....
