I Want Corluka Back!

Google language translator

Spurs are on the verge of re-signing Pascal Chimbonda, which could mean more competition at the back for Spurs. Should Hughes follow Spurs and try and resign Corluka.

I know it sounds crazy and many of you wouldn`t think of this as a possible deal, but if we offer around £15 million it could be a possibility as Corluka`s words when he left were that he was joining a "bigger club". Looking at things now could he be tempted back to Eastlands?

It`s got to be worth a shot. Corluka was an important part of the backline for us last season, and we are still showing signs that we miss him.

My own fantasy or could this actually be possible? Spurs and City fans have your say?

Corluka has great techincal abitlity and is very silky, his only downside is that he lacks pace, saying that i cant understand why city let him go in the first place. City have the money but would he go back when he already stated that spurs are a bigger club. Im sure he wont want to sound hypocritical but with citys billions you can never rule them out of any transfer.

Zabaleta and Richards are both better full backs than him so I dno't see the point. We also have Onohua who can slot in on the right if needs be too.

Corluks isn't a right back in my opinion, certainly plays much better in the middle, Chimbo gets forward would love him back, but still we should keep Charlie, King however great I regret to say has had his day, we need consistence at the back, bringing in Chimbo could help see this happen with Charlie and Woody at the back!

Apart from anything I believe there's a ruling saying a club can't resign a player less than 12 months after selling them.

You could be right Falastur but there wouldn't be any problem if it was a loan deal, or not that i'm aware of.

The story goes Charlie didn't want to play for us amid the uncertainty of Svengate and Frank's ongoing legal battles. Maybe like other players he should have dug in and be surprised by Sheikh Mancity. But now we have the gutsy never say die Pablo Zabaleta who is in a different league. Academy lads Ned and Micah are also top drawer, so imho, Charlie, though our most technically gifted player at the time is no loss.

Fakastur, you are right to a degree. The rule says that a team cannot apply to register the contract of a player who has had their registration cancelled by that club within twelve months, without the express written permission of the FA (this is a premier league rule, not a UEFA or FIFA rule). I assume Spurs had to apply for permission from the FA before they resigned Defoe. From what I'm told the rule is designed to prevent abuse of the loan system, but I can't say I'm sure how. But anyway, you can't have Charlie back, he's the best summer signing Spurs made. Wouldn't you rather give us 20m for Bentley?

The fact is that once Charlie had his mind on a"bigger "club, he agitated for a move. No way would I have him back, not even if he was the best right back in the world (and he's not!). Let him rot in'arry's reserves while he watches donkey-boy Chimbonda occupy his spot. He'll lose his place to Hutton when he's fit again anyway. Besides, I'll enjoy thinking of how p155ed he'll be playing in the Championship next season (sorry spurs fans, but you are looking pretty f*****d)

I agree Charlie has talent, but his stopping and turning circle are on a par with the QE2. Charlie was destined to play CB not the pacey RB role.I cannot see him coming back unless Hughesy wants him for CB.

Can't see the need to resign Corluka after all he's "Gone to a bigger club". With our new signings Richards should be able to move back to his prefered place (right back) and he is just as good as Corluka in that position and Zabaleta looked good in midfield when he played there and is also a good right back as well. I would wish him all the best if he was to leave spurs as he was a great player for City but he has had his chance at City and chose to move on.
