Vital Man City Exclusive Interview: Roy Harper

Google language translator

Manchester born rock/folk singer-songwriter and Blues supporter Roy Harper has kindly agreed to take part in an exclusive 'Question and Answer' session.

The 67-year-old rock legends musical career has spanned the best part of four decades, having featured along side the very best the music industry has to offer, including one of my all time favourite bands, Pink Floyd.

Roy is a regular visitor to Vital Manchester City and often posts his opinions in the comments section on the sites front pages.

Mr Harper is currently busy working on his new album however, he is prepared to take time out and answer several of our City related questions.

If you want Roy to answer a selection of your question, please leave them either in the comments section directly below this article, or via our City Chat forum.

Must admit I feel very privileged to have Roy as one of our regular readers. Has anyone checked out the Led Zeppelin song all about Roy... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jTclg5KqCe8 Who wants to be the first to ask Roy a question?

Jb its an OVATION ADAMAS 1, very distinctive sounds, brilliant in the hands of a a legend. Mike Oldfield played same type on tubular bells I think.

There's a link on YouTube of Roy and Jimmy Page performing on a hillside no less and uses that guitar then, Buzz. Very impressive!

Hello Roy, have you ever had the opportunity to play with some of the Manchester guitar greats that dominated my years in and around town? John Squire and Johnny Marr, another devout Blue spring to mind. How do you rate them?

Hey Roy, whilst I'm by no means familiar with every song in your ouevre I do recall 'When an old cricketer leaves the crease". Have you written/recorded any City/footie related material? If not anything/one that appeals? Answer this and I'll change my name to BILLinamingvase! Btw isn't Rick Wakeman a blue too? Perhaps a ProgRock special beckons?

Yo Roy, I never thought 20+ years ago sat in the Nell Gwynne theatre Hereford throwing fragrant cigarettes at you, one day I would be posting in a forum to you! Didn’t even realise you are a manc and a blue, wow what a day!!! Without doubt for me Hangman was my fav (trying to sing along to it) Hope all is well and your wise words bring joy to the blue half of Hereford.
