Richards Arrest Confirmed

Google language translator

Micah Richards has been arrested and bailed until April over an alledged assault outside a Hale nightclub...

The Manchester Evening News confirmed the situation and reported Mark Hughes' statement over the matter.

'We are very supportive of Micah. He went to the police station in a pre-arranged appointment. It is an on-going situation, we are aware of that and we are supportive of him.'

Hughes went on to reveal that Richards remains in contention for a start against Middlesborough on Saturday. The alledged assault is reported to have taken place early last Christmas Eve.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "The man was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault."

Richards has had by the high standards he has previously set, a poor season. This latest development will be the last thing he or his club needs at this stage of a tough season.

Oh hurrah, more ammunition for the tabloids to use to have a go at us, not that they need much excuse. I get the impression that the rot in the dressing room at Manchster City had really set in prior to Hughes' arrival. We have had rumours about misbehaviour from quite a few players doing the rounds for a while now. This problem may not be of Hughes' making, but unfortunately it could be his undoing. Whether the allegations against Micah are true or not is almost irrelevant, this latest incident suggests a group of players who are out of control. Interesting that nothing has come to light regarding this incident until now, did the alleged victim have trouble selling his story to the tabloids?

Did you read about the blackmail arrest in Stockport? - From The MUEN: "A man has been arrested by police investigating an alleged attempt to blackmail a Manchester City player. It is believed the player was asked to pay thousands of pounds to get his iPod back after it was found in the changing room of a clothing store. Several attempts were allegedly made to contact him before the matter was reported to police. The iPod has since been recovered. A source close to the case said: "I can confirm the material was not of a sensational nature. A police spokesman said: "A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of blackmail as part of an investigation by police, on January 31. He has been bailed until March 4 and inquiries continue."
