Hughes Hopping Mad With FA Over SWP

b>Google language translator

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is hopping mad with the Football Association over their decision to charge Shaun Wright-Phillips with violent conduct.

Wright-Phillips was charged on Wednesday after kicking out at Stoke's Rory Delap during last weekend's defeat at the Britannia Stadium.

At the time match referee, Martin Atkinson only saw Delap bringing down Wright-Phillips and without hesitation showed Delap the red card, however the Sky camera's showed Sean retaliate, an incident in which the official missed.

After reviewing the footage Atkinson claims he would sent off Wright-Phillips if he had seen the City him retaliate.

City has until 6pm on Thursday to decide whether to appeal against the action, which will result in a three-match ban if Wright-Phillips is found guilty.

Hughes is hopping mad with the severity of the charge and he feels a three-match suspension would be unjust for the winger.

'We are disappointed,' said Hughes. 'There are a few letters and faxes going to be exchanged between ourselves and the FA today because the way it stands, if we decide to appeal, we are not going to get a verdict until late on Friday.'

'The process could have been done a lot more quickly, which is something we will be highlighting because I have to prepare a team for Saturday.'

'By the letter of the law, Shaun retaliated, but he had twice been kicked from behind. I don't think what Shaun did in response was violent conduct. It was a human reaction and I feel a three-game ban would be unfair.'

Here we go again, the refs are always subject to a lot of pressure and then tend to make overcompensated decision when they do the video bit.... on the pitch he would have given Delap red and SWP a yellow had he seen it.

its just the normal "get City" way.....yet again...!!
